This was my first cruise and reviews from others made me very worried about the Carnival Vista. Fortunately I had no negative experiences. I spent lots of time on deck 5 enjoying the views and even getting a little nap in. Always felt I could get away from the hoardes of people when I wanted to and I enjoyed my first cruise very much and was everything I was hoping for.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Very easy even with us arriving early.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food in mdr and buffet is average fare but not bad with the salmon eggs Benedict being a standout. The stars on the ship for me was Guys Burgers and the pizza place. Wish I'd tried the 4 cheese pizza earlier in the cruise instead of the last day.🤦♀️ There is plenty to eat and lots of options. All in all not bad.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Went to a couple of shows, comedy club and Serenity pool.
Entertainment

They were entertaining enough. Good way to pass the time.
Children's Programs
No children
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
My room steward Nyoman was awesome and on the first night called out to me I had passed my room...the first night. He brought me a robe when I asked for one. MDR staff was hit or miss: some very good, some seemed frazzled. The hostesses at reception in Horizon's came across as cold and gruff and not very welcoming but you fortunately don't have to have much interaction with them.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Very clean, deck furniture is starting to show wear and tear. I didn't mind the layout others complain about so much. It is what it is, deal with it and move on. It doesn't make or break the beauty of the ship. Staff constantly cleaning.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
It was just me in the room so there was plenty of space. Room was clean and attractive. Wish I could of found a way to take the mattress and pillows home with me; best sleep I've had in a long time. The mattress was firm but enveloped and supported you, like I would imagine a cloud would. I miss that mattress and pillows!!! The only complaint was noise level at night, lots of banging and clanging from who knows what.
Ship tip
Best piece of advice and used was this: when the elevators are busy, when one opens up and there's room on it get on it regardless to which direction it's headed. What goes up will come back down and visa versa. You wouldn't believe the hoards of people who will wait for the 'right' direction.🤷♀️ another tip would be to try when you can to alter the time you do things; little waiting at 7am for breakfast buffet, at 9:30 am it's wall to walk people.
I did all my shopping here, lots of vanilla for my own use and as gifts and some t-shirts. Yes people want you to buy but just say no thanks and they stop, often will say have a good day to you.
OMG, don't know how it could of been worse. Computers went down, had to use the gangway, people not paying any regard to instructions, people from deck 9 coming down stairs when they hadn't even called for deck one yet. It was a madhouse. I had to text my mother on deck 2 to go ahead and make her way down as people were acting like they'd been told to abandon ship. Would it of been smoother if people would of followed instructions? I have no idea.
