Don't think I would cruise again....... Guest Services should have taken room problem more seriously.....
Embarkation

Ok but didn't get my suitcase until 7:00pm. Horrible because I didn't have anythung cooler to change into!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Meat was way over cooked in Market Place and Horizons. So tough in both restaurants you couldn't eat it. Ribs and fried chicken left on plates all throughout dining rooms. Everyone said don't bother. It all just goes in the trash. We mentioned it to Tomaslov and he said he would pass it on. JiJi's and the Italian restaurant was great.
Onboard Activities

Lots to do..... So was so big we really got our exercise. You all need to move the casino so everyone doesn't have to walk thru it to get to mid ship. It stinks. Also we took a Latin dance class with Carl I think. You couldn't see him teaching for the big pillar and cramped slaves. Needs to be in the Ocean Room area where he can stand on a stage to teach.
Entertainment

Wonderful Latin show. They are phenomenal!
Service and Staff

Probably 80% of staff was very friendly. Other 20% not so much. Our guy cleaning our room was fantastic.
Ship Quality

Cleanliness was pretty good probably get a 4 star on that one. layout is terrible. You should never put rooms under that Marketplace restaurant. We could not sleep for the slamming cabinets, drawers, moving those carts all over that bumpy ceramic tile. So loud I didn't sleep. Went down and spoke with Guest Services and she told me to call when it happens. Well at 1:00am it started in. Called and they sent a man to listen. Of course it was just the slamming. The carts didn't start until a little later. I should have kept calling every night but who wants some man coming to your room every night. Didn't go back to sleep around 3:00am more than 6 out of 7 nights. For all that we got a $70 credit. It was so miserable I don't think I will ever do another cruise, I have told the travel agent to never book those again ever! Just don't think there was concern from Guest Services. They should have moved us to another room.
Cabin / Stateroom

Size and cleanliness of our cabin was great. Overall comfort was a bust. We were right under the Market Place. The slamming of doors and drawers but especially those carts going up and down the hallways above us. The carts were so loud on that bumpy ceramic tile. I didn't sleep 6 out of 7 nights. Complained but nothing was done except they sent a guy to listen. Didn't want him coming every night when I called so gave up. Stuffed Kleenex in my ears, took Benadryl.... nothing took away the loudness. Got a $70 credit for being miserable the entire cruise. probably will not cruise again, Carnival anyway and certainly will not recommend carnival to anyone
Ship tip
To NOT do it, especially if you get a room under the Marketplace. Didn't like having to walk thru the casino to get anywhere on the floor.
If you used a travel agent shame on them, they know all these things that other cruisers are telling you, or that you’d learn from research. I cannot believe however that guest services didn’t bring you earplugs, that’s a hospitality standard now in hotels and hospitals, now you know and I advise you bring your own on any trip, just in case.
It’s always important to review the deck plans online before choosing a cabin. You should choose a cabin with other cabins above below and around you. If you chose the guarantee option, the upside is you probably saved some money, the downside is you usually get a room that no one else wants. Hopefully a lack of knowledge on choosing a cabin on your first cruise does not prevent you from cruising in the future.
Definitely check what is around your room when booking. Also, we learnef after our first cruise to always carry on a bag with a change of clothes. Lastly, if you don't like the smoke, you can go up one level and avoid it.
ALWAYS check the deck plan before booking any room on any ship so you know what is above and below your room !! I learned after our first cruise to always pack a sweatshirt / jacket in our carry-on bc it takes time for them to get everyone’s luggage delivered. Plz chalk it all up to a hard lesson learned and try another cruise with the knowledge you have gained from this cruise and I’m sure your next one will be fabulous!!
Taking my first cruise in January and I'm a planner. Thus tons and tons of research - just wanted to point out 1 tip that might help you which is take a carry on with a change of clothes and necessities so that you're not waiting for your luggage. I'm really sorry that your trip wasn't what you hoped it would be. Hopefully next time. Good luck!
