Review summary

I give the Carnival Vista a big thumbs up. Every single one of the crew that we encountered were top notch and so friendly. The ship is big, but after the first day, we were comfortable with it's layout. If we got turned around, we just looked at the ship's layout map that was at each elevator on every floor throughout the ship. I would definitely cruise again on the Vista.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We checked in on line so when we arrived to embark, we just flew through. It took about 15 minutes from when we got to the embarkment to when we stepped on the ship. I highly encourage everyone to check-in online.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We only ate at the Lido Buffet a few times. The lines moved fast, food was good but could use a bigger variety. The Main Dining Room for breakfast was ok, super slow service. Dinner at our scheduled time in the dining room was great. Food was always hot, service was wonderful!

Serenity Bar

5 out of 5

We loved this deck as there weren't too many people to make it feel crowded. Dan and his crew at the bar were exceptionally nice. They made me a small concoction remedy for heartburn when they heard I wasn't feeling too good. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed.

Reflections Restaurant

5 out of 5

Highly recommend the Reflections Dining room experience. Nengah and Juiletta were amazing and very personable with us.

Piano Bar 88

5 out of 5

Tony was a great entertainer!! Very engaged with his guests. The bartender in the Piano Bar was the best!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Need more main swimming pools. Only two on the ship can not handle over 4,000 guests.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The dance show was spectacular, loved the '80's music. We went to the piano bar each evening after dining. Tony was great and very interactive with the guests. Didn't catch the main bartenders name in the piano bar but he was the best! He was very engaged with the guest and provided the best service!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We had the best, friendliest service anywhere we were on the ship. Our room stewards Jolanta and Ela were great and met out daily needs. Our waiters in the Reflections Dining Room, Nengah and Juilietta were so attentive and seemed to be genuinely interested in our trip and making it better. The bartenders at the Serenity deck, especially Dan, were the friendliest and remembered our names after servicing us the first time.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean boat, everywhere we went, someone was cleaning or sweeping up. Never saw anything out of order. Elevators seemed very slow and most of the time, there were at least two elevators that were not in service.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Beds were so comfortable. Room was very clean. Room was small but expected. Little storage space in room, even with using under the beds for extra storage.

Ship tip

Take seasick meds if you are susceptible to motion sickness. It seemed that anywhere we were on the ship we could feel movement.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
Loved Galveston, the people are so friendly.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

3 out of 5
This was the least favorite of our ports, but one of the best excursions. We did a snorkle and reggae dancing excursion. The crew was great and interactive with the guests. A lady fell through the crack into the ocean when getting off of the catteraman, a missed step. The crew moved fast, diving in to save her immediately. The were very professional and stayed with her until she headed back to the ship. KUDOS TO this crew!!

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
We did parasailing, which I highly recommend. The crew was great and very one on one with the guests. Took us to Seven Mile Island to a luxury resort when we were done with the parasail. Very clean and very nice people.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
I love Cozumel. There was a lot of shopping without having to leave the port area. We did a Wine and snorkel catamaran and sail excursion. This was our favorite! We snorkelled in a beautiful area about ten minutes from the port. After snorkelling, the crew raised the sails and we sailed theu the most beautiful waters of the ocean. They served us a most wonderful lunch and served adult beverages to each guest. They were there to wait on the guests. We dropped anchor at an exclusive area and guests were able to jump in, paddle board, float or whatever they desired for about an hour. The crew on this excursion were very good, and were sincerely there to make sure each guest felt comfortable.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkment went so smooth. We were off of the boat in less than thirty minutes.
