Review summary

This was our first cruise and we were celebrating our 15th anniversary.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Pretty easy and efficient.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Almost all the food we had was good and we had several meals that were great!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We didn't do a lot of the extra activities on board because we were looking for a relaxing vacation. My husband loved the Sky-Ride, but lines were usually long for this. We did use the fitness center and it was nice a clean and had plenty of machines to use.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
To be fair, we did not attend all the theater shows and comedy shows but the ones we did attend were just ok.

Children's Programs

We don't have kids.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our cabin stewards were great! They were very attentive and worked so hard to keep our room stocked and clean! Most of the waiters we had were decent. Dinner was definitely better for service than breakfast. The Fun Crew were always a delight.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
They kept this ship clean! I was amazed at how tidy everything always looked. With over 4000 passengers on board, I didn't think this would be possible but they have it down.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The size of the room was perfect for two people! I think if someone was using the pull out sofa as a bed it might have been a bit cramped. Not a lot of drawer space to put away folded clothes but plenty of room in the closet to hang things. The bed was pretty comfortable but you can feel the separation of the twin beds, so if you like snuggling with your sweetie, it can be difficult.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

3 out of 5
Kinda run down and dirty. Didn't feel that safe.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

4 out of 5
We went to Doctor's Cave Beach and loved it! We did the hop on/hop off shuttle but may not do that if we go again. It was expensive for the shuttle and we only went to the beach and back. But I was worried about having to get a cab outside of the terminal.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
The water was beautiful! It was pretty windy the day we spent here so we couldn't snorkel like we wanted to. We took a taxi to Royal Palms Beach Club on Seven Mile Beach. The beach and water were so nice. and the beach club was pretty too but it was so expensive for chairs and drinks and food. And it was very crowded!

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
We docked at Puerto Maya. We didn't do an excursion and wanted to just walk around and shop. We didn't find any good deals and the shop people are pretty pushy.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
This was absolutely the WORST part of our trip. The disembarkation plan that carnival has set up is a joke and not enforced! Basically everyone just tries to get off the ship at once so the people who actually try to follow directions get screwed.

I’m glad overall your cruise was great! I’ve experienced the chaotic debarkation on the Valor. It was horrible. I thought it was due to the weather or the ship. Our first two cruises on the Magic weren’t like that. We were on the road by 10:00.

Good review. Just a quick note, Galveston is about as safe as any town can be. You can walk anywhere and be completely fine.

You loved most everything but you only gave one five star review. You sound like if everything is not PERFECT it should be. A cruise is what you make it!!!!
