Review summary

The staff and ship were Wonderful!! Only problem with the cruise was the quality of passengers on board. It seemed extremly "ghetto" for lack of a better word. The women as well as some of the males were extremly underdressed at the most inappropriate times. Swimwear in the dining area without coverups and barely there string bikinis through out the ship when not near a pool area. I was a bit embarrassed by the lack of modesty many of the passenegers had. Especially in front of my husband and 16 year old daughter. The staff and boat were amazing as usual but because of the quality of passenegers aboard, my husband and I will not be cruising on (unbeknownst to us) what is called "The Ghetto Cruise" again.

My 16 year old daughter was during the entire cruise except for dinner and when we stopped at the islands...It was Amazing!! She said it was the best vacation she has ever been on.

Service and Staff

ALLL of the staff, from waiters, room stewards and all other ship personnel were absolutely AWESOME!! They were attentive to our needs, never uttered a complaint when my 16 year old slept way past our room cleaning time, and came back quickly to clean it once she did get up. They were like fairies who cleaned the room in seconds while you were gone!

I alsways love Carnival Ships!! They are bright and airy, colorful and bright and clean, clean, clean! I have never seen a staff clean 24 hours a day, very discreetly tho. Every surface and inch of the ship. They should be commended!!

Ship tip

You can eat free at the resturants that you normally have to pay for on seadays. My husband and I enjoyed the Mongolian Wok for free. Also, instead of spending lots of money per person for excursions bought onboard, we were able to find the same ones, sometimes better for less, once we got off the boat. Finally, if you only want to go to the beac and not do a tour, your best bet is to take a cab directly there rather than taking one of the busses. The busses charge per person but the taxi cabs charge you just to travel to the location which is way cheaper.

You know we have enough people stereotype those that are different than them. Instead of saying that is different and not something I would do. You go out and set a bad example for your daughter by calling people names or putting them in a category that you don't think you are in. Ma'am you are to be a shame of yourself, when you see someone from music or TV wearing the same or something less revealing. Do consider them Ghetto, probably not. Life is too short to worry about others, being with your family should have been your main focus. Wonder if you hubby felt the same way, after you complained. Live life at it fullest and be kind.

Last cruise I went on was with royal and there was a 79 year old women in one piece bathing suit...sounds pretty tame, right? It was one of those that is cut out in the middle from about the chest area to... well let's just say below the belly button.... all I could think of was "you go granny" lol just about any type of cruise you go to is going to have people wearing stuff like that. Just cause it's not something I would wear ( or have the guts to wear lol) doesnt mean wrong.... might I suggest a Disney cruise? And I'm not trying to be hateful saying that... evidently it was a concern for you ( specially with having a young lady with you) and my friend went on a Disney cruise and she was talking about the dress code since over 80% of the passengers are going to be kids. Glad to hear that other than that issue that you liked the ship and enjoyed it in other ways. Alot of times of someone has one issue they cant seem to dismiss it enough to give credit where credit is do. Hope this doesnt turn you off to cruising totally.

Vista is out of Miami. I think the best cruise line for you would be the Princess or Celebrity. These 2 lines are full of "mature" adults such as yourself. You can also try Disney, but I understand they maybe a bit to much Ghetto as well. I make these recommendations based on the fact you mentioned being around "Ghetto people." You wont have to worry about that since most "Ghetto People" cant afford those prices. BtW, Carnival is the party cruise line. I have never seen anyone with a thong bikini at dinner. remember, you are there to vacation and have fun not to worry about others attitude or how they are vacationing. After all, it is what you make it. Anyway, happy sailing and I hope your future cruises are more enjoyable.

Please tell us what port you cruised from. We are getting the Vista in Galveston, but I don’t think it’s there just yet. I hope it’s not like that when she does. Carnival already has that “Walmart” reputation but I was hoping Vista would be nicer. (No, I don’t think that, just saying that’s the rep it has. I’ve only cruised Carnival so far.)

Being on vacation does not excuse people from following rules and common courtesy and etiquette. I certainly don’t want to see someone’s butt crack before me on the buffet line or in an elevator. Try a different cruiseline next time.

I'm just glad that you had the enough sense to give the ship a decent rating. I Pray your future cruises are full of guest on your level. Vacations are full of passengers of all walks of life to stereotype folks as ghetto is very classy. Trust me on every cruise you will find people beneath you. Live, Laugh, Love and embrace the quality time with your family. Less concern with others you might enjoy yourself more.
