Review summary

The cruise director, staff and excursion hosts kept hollering, "Are you having fun?" That is a silly way to create the atmosphere and get someone excited about their vacation. If we didn't holler "yes"loud enough, they would ask again. The staterooms were clean and the stewards were awesome! The folks at our assigned dining table may turn out to be lifelong friends. The excursions were oversold, over-promised and not well executed. We would NEVER recommend a snorkel excursion on this cruise. For less than half, you can get a taxi to take you to the turtle beach. We were painfully disappointed by what we paid versus what we received.

Entertainment

They have a dance floor in one of the clubs and use recorded music. That is fine, except that they only played music for one or two hours an evening! This would be a terrific venue for keeping some folks out and about - you know, the ones who don't want to go to the art auctions onboard to buy overpriced art, or who don't want to play in the casino, or just sit and drink in the other clubs. This dance club could be utilized by all ages, even 24 hours!

Ports of call

Bridgetown, Barbados

The $3 courtesy shuttle to town turn us off about going into town, since we had to be back for our excursion in two hours. But, our dinner friends said people would run up, put a bracelet on your arm, say a blessing over you and ask for $40!!! That happened to them several times, and they said we were lucky we didn't go in to town.

Nice town and friendly, helpful people.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Lovely town! Shopping was okay, but we enjoyed walking around town and seeing the old churches.
Don't Miss: Craft market, just past the main street shops.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Easy place to feel welcome. Very pleasant, short walk into town. Don't take the water taxi! Waste of time and money! In less than ten minutes you can walk to the boardwalk, and be a part of this little piece of fun island. Friendly, informative tour operators ( known elsewhere as taxi drivers!) will give you an island tour for $25/person. Or, just rent a chair on the beach that comes with an umbrella and a drink for just $10!

Do not venture outside the mall or into town. The taxi drivers are ALL over trying to make deals with you. One staffer told us they change the deal and make a big scene when you don't pay the inflated price when you get back. Stay on the boat. Our excursion was okay, if you just gotta get off. But, don't.

Pros: New friends made at dinner

Cons: The excursions
