Really a fun and interesting trip. A great value cruise and a couple days in an interesting city.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
A pain. Chose early to get the fun started and although it did mean scoring a prime table on Lido deck, we had to wait in a room with a thousand while the previous cruise was disembarked. The actual process was pretty quick with lots of guidance and check-in agents.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Our party of two couples really enjoyed the food. Main dining room, the pizzas, ice cream, tacos, buffet.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We missed having a place to just dance but we line danced, Macarena, etc with the team on Lido. Just not enough room. Did not go to any other activities on this cruise.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Loved the Valor house band in the lobby. Amazing talent from the lead female and male singers and the bass guitarist. Main stage shows were mediocre due to song choices but some very talented people.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward Sara could not have been more helpful. Our dining room team was excellent as well. All around the ship we found excellent service.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Older ship but still beautiful and well maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom

Our first time in an interior cabin. We were in a suite on Carnival Radiance last month. Although we did miss getting up in the middle of the night and seeing the moonlight on the water, it was fine. We spent little time in the room. It was dark (we bring a nightlight for the bathroom) and Quiet, clean, bright with the lights on, and the bed was comfy. One improvement would be a better tv to see the bridge cam channel better. Or maybe a better bridge cam. The view was almost black and white.
We stayed 2 nights. At the Eliza Jane. Visited Bourbon Street on Saturday night so too crazy to actually enjoy the music, food, and drinks. Meant to do the HOHO bus Sunday but slept late. Had booked a food tour. $78 pp but wouldn’t recommend it. Guide had us standing in the hot sun several times while he gave dry, uninteresting talks on irrelevant (to a food tour) history. Food was “toned down” for tourists when the reason you opt for a food tour is to sample the real deal and see where you want to go back. The restaurant where we were to try the jambalaya and gumbo seated our group in the sun on the patio when shaded and inside seating was clearly available.
We made a reservation at Nachi Cocum beach resort. Grabbed a taxi from the taxi line. $20 for 4 and about 20 minutes later we were there. We enjoyed the beach, the drinks, the food was good, not great. Ordered from a menu.. we each had a 30 minute massage and we did the glass bottomed snorkel boat. Not a lot to see although we did see a turtle.
We did a ship excursion here—Lazy River, Mayan ruins and lunch. Really nice. We swam in underground cenotes, visited the pyramids and other Mayan ruins, had a great lunch.
