Review summary

My family had a great time. It was our first cruise. I broke my arm the first day in New Orleans so although I couldn’t do the things I had wanted, I enjoyed relaxing. My DIL was dx with the flu the day after getting home, so be sure to take wipes and clean every part of your room. Cozumel was fabulous. Proseco was interesting at the Mayan Ruins, but the bus ride was too long and for lunch there were no options. We were all given the same thing whether we liked it or not. This is not an excursion I will take again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
All the food was amazing!! Loved having dinner at the Lincoln dining room. Guys Burgers was fabulous! So many options for food. We did the Cheers package and I didn’t have one alcoholic drink that was not good. I didn’t really like that they only served Pepsi products, but I could deal with that.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Awesome pools, even adult only area with hot tub and pool. All kinds of entertainment from comedy shows, karaoke, bingo, live music, HASBRO live games and so much more. Always something to do!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The comedians, musicians and magicians were all top notch! We really enjoyed the ones we saw.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
We had an 8 and 9 year old and they loved the kids area. They would have spent the whole cruise there! Lots of age appropriate activities and well supervised.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our steward, Rommel, was absolutely the best. He made sure we had everything we needed and remembered our names from the first day. In the restaurants, bars and all other places we encountered staff they were awesome. The only exception was the Pixel staff. There were two staff members who were just rude and acted as if they did not want to be there. The one reddish wavy haired lady who was taking pictures was great. It was the man of color and the other woman that my DIL dealt with who were so unpleasant.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything was clean and we found no areas that looked like it needed repair. We did wipe our cabin down (upon arrival) with Clorox hospital grade peroxide wipes to make sure we killed as many lingering germs as possible.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was perfect for me and my husband. We had a large bed, soft bench, chair, and table. Plenty of storage for our clothes as well as our luggage to be stored.

Ship tip

Tip your steward well the first day (even if you included the gratuity on your payment to the cruise) and they will take extra good care of you. We gave our steward $20 on the day we boarded and he did such a great job, we tipped him and additional $20 the last day. In the restaurant or bar if you are going to be there for a while also tip and they will stay on top of serving you.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

I like New Orleans, but they need to do better in marking their sidewalks when they have brick on brick half round steps that go half way across the sidewalk. I ((Margie), was walking the first day there and ended up tripping and falling really hard. I spent my evening in the ER finding out I had broken my arm. The city needs to do a much better job in marking these hazards!

Cozumel, Mexico

Great time shopping. The catamaran was fun, but due to my broken arm, I could not snorkel and my husband wouldn’t leave me alone on the boat. The private beach was nice, but we had to walk through waist deep water to get to the sand and with a broken arm I was terrified I was going to fall. The staff helped me.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

The bus ride was so long. The Mayan Ruins looked really cool, but (again) because of my broken arm, I was only able to go to the first level. There are no handrails and the steps jarred my arm and it was painful. I waited in the courtyard for my family and group to get back. We ate at a place called Hacienda. It was okay, but you had no choice of food. Everyone was served the exact same thing. I was not impressed at all with this excursion.

Disembarkation

We did the Express where we took our luggage with us and were able to leave after the Platinum cruisers. It was well organized and flowed very smoothly.

That’s awful about your arm, we went out of New Orleans for the first time and my husband also fell, luckily he didn’t break anything. Glad you still had a great time😀
