Review summary

Love going out of NOLA port. Cozumel was the most fun but we will probably not go back to Progresso. I can recommend this ship for a short relaxing cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
It went so quickly we never had to wait in a line. We didn’t have to sit and wait until we got to the lido deck and were eating lunch and waiting for our room to open.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Our favorite meal is always brunch and breakfast in the dining room, the service and food was wonderful as usual. The Blue Iguana and the Chocolate Extravaganza bar were both excellent. The regular buffet was average. The room service was the best we have ever had, we got coffee and juice every morning. We do not eat in the formal dining because we don’t like to eat that late.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The offered lots of options and it seemed like something was planned all day long. We like watching movies at night on the deck but the weather was not favorable this time of year.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
All I can say is average. The shows at night did not impress us. The violin players were good. There was not as much Caribbean and island music played on the overhead speaker throughout the ship as others we have been on, I missed the tropical music. We sailed in January so it was too cold to sit on the deck to watch all the movies, it would be nice if they showed the movies in the room when the weather wasn’t favorable for sitting outside.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was wonderful overall. The gentleman that brought us room service every morning was the best. Our room steward keep our room clean and was polite but didn’t ever learn our names, I think the stewards have the hardest job on the ship, they are so busy!!!!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything was clean and we saw the staff cleaning all day. The ship was smaller than the newer ones so it was much easier to get around.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Great room with balcony. Good size for two. The steward cleaned it every morning and got us extra pillows when we asked. We were close to the middle elevators so it was easy to get to the lido deck.

Ship tip

Once you get past the emergency drill on the first day there were few lines and people were nice.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

5 out of 5
Love NOLA! We didn’t do a paid excursion. We took a cab to the French Quarter and walked around, the most interesting city in the USA.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We rented a Jeep from Shore Fox and had the best day in Cozumel ever!!!!

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

2 out of 5
We purchased an excursion to Silser Resort, they were average. The waiter did a good job bringing us food and drinks, but the vendors bothered us all day trying to sell their food while we laid on the beach.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We only waited about 30 minutes from the time we had to be out of our room before we were called to leave the ship. Carnival staff made it supper smooth for us as we left the boat.
