Review summary

Do a lot of reading on your own. There are many charges that I was unaware of and options that took a lot of time to figure out the best feasibility to get or not get. There is a charge for carnival hub and it's shotty at best to communicate. They advertise the hub but not the fee. The price for the cruise seemed like a good deal until we started adding all of the drink packages and other packages. In my opinion not up front pricing for overall price per person and a lot more expensive than looks on paper. Do a lot of research on your own for the ship and ports as a lot of information is not readily available unless you ask. And like us if you don't know then you don't know to ask.

size was small but did it's job to get us sleep, it was well cleaned and the kids loved the new towel animal every night. Staff was extremely responsive.

Ship tip

We got lost a lot because you have to go to the fifth floor to navigate front to back of the ship. All of the other floors only go half way accross the ship. So you go half way then to fifth then up or down again based on what floor your going to.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

staff was not friendly and port was hard to navigate and expensive to park.

Cozumel, Mexico

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

Beach was nice and shopping was cheap

Disembarkation

Horrible, I was not informed that the cut off for luggage was 1:30 and we had to lug our suitcases all the way to the room through customs and all.

It’s always a good idea to do research before any type of travel. There is no requirement to purchase additional items unless you choose to do so. We rarely purchase anything but the base cruise package and gratuities and have a great time. The basic Carnival Hub app is free and has lots of good information without paying extra. If you do choose to add the chat feature, I believe it is only $ 5 per device for the entire cruise. We don’t need it, but it’s an inexpensive way to keep in touch if you have multiple people who go their own way.
