Review summary

After being on the Vista (which I thought was an absolute disaster in both styling and execution) it was wonderful to be back on a “traditional” Carnival ship. I will be SO SO sad to see it leave Galveston and go to New Orleans. Best cruise Ever! Fun packed 5 days was better than the 7 day cruise on Vista

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food in the MDR was far better than any other Carnival ship I have been on! I have had these same dishes on other ships, but here, on the Valor, they came alive with flavor. Service was impeccable, and the hostess (Ance) does her job with ease and grace. Never a wait for a table! Even with anytime dining!

American Lobby and Atrium Bar

5 out of 5

Beautiful Atrium with glass elevators and enough room to actually dance. Loved it!!!

One Small Step Dance Club

5 out of 5

A REAL nightclub. Not a dual purpose comedy club/nightclub ( and failed at being either) like on the Vista!!Great fun every night and a HUGE Dancefloor

Room Service

5 out of 5

First time in a long time that the food was NOT SALTY!!! Wonderful!!!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Everything on the ship is spotless and SO WELL RUN! I have never seen such a well run Carnival ship!! Run’s circles around Vista, which I thought was a complete mess! Cruise director and DJ Am kept the party going all day!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
They truly did a marvelous job! Best DJ’s ever.

Glory Atrium

5 out of 5

Full of light and very pleasant surprise before entering the Washington dining room. Beautiful eagle sculpture

Children's Programs

No children with us

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone is pleasant, calm, well trained, friendly and very accommodating

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Extremely clean and well maintained. Extremely! Also, this ship has a certain elegance in it’s design and decor. The use of marble throughout is extraordinary.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

Enjoy the spacious beautiful atrium!!

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

3 out of 5
There are some hidden gems in Galveston! Come a day early, or stay an extra day.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Passion Island excursion!!

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

4 out of 5
Progreso is a real life small city full of friendly people and great bargains if you know where to look. Walk to the public beach and soak in the local ambience. It’s not pretty, but full of character.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quick, easy and smooth!

Sounds like fun times.

We love the "centralized themes" of the older carnival ships. We just sailed Horizon and loved it but missed that decor

So glad to hear you enjoyed yourself and Valor is a good ship. She and I will meet in January.

Loved the Vista when she was in Europe. Best on board restaurants, activities, and layout.
