Review summary

Second cruise on The Valor. We loved it once again and are definitely hooked cruisers. The Valor is a lovely ship and would sail on it anytime. For your fist cruise a 5 day is the way to go to experience and see if you are cruisers. Love The Valor

Embarkation

It all went very smooth and reasonably quickly we had no problems or hold ups We picked 11am to 12pm time to board and it worked well

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We chose our own dining time and the restaurant was lovely. Our waiters were great and a lot of fun. Enjoyed their dance time. The food was good not outstanding but good except their well known Carnival chocolate melting cake which is amazing and a must try Buffets were always well presented and variety of food available was awesome If you don't find anything you like you are way to fussy an eater Burgers at Guys Burger Joint were yum and a great burger

Onboard Activities

We just love the art auctions and art gallery time and have started to collect artwork. Love the comedy club each night Went to a couple of the shows and they were fun Enjoy the serenity deck hot tubs as no kids allowed and it's quieter

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Thought the musicians this time were a little boring for my taste. Violinist trio not my thing, also band sang a lot in Spanish so we didn't attend that again. Loved the Comedians for comedy club especially Cowboy Bill he packed out the lounge each night standing room only he was awesome. Dance club is okay just hard to chat with the music loud but great dance place Enjoyed the trivia times with Frankie cruise director he is a fun guy

Children's Programs

We do not have children who cruise with us

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward was awesome and I wish I could remember his name to give him an awesome review but we were on Deck 7 and our room was always clean and neat and cozy Our wait staff were great and enjoyed our dining. Buffet staff on Lido Deck were always friendly. The only staff that we were not happy with was the girl on the Serenity Deck one evening she was very unfriendly and not particularly pleasant.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was always clean and neat and tidy and even during meal times at the buffet they kept the tables cleared and clean. All areas were always clean and neat. This was our second cruise on The Valor and we love this ship

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The size was good for us as a couple and we love the balcony which again is great for a couple plenty of room. We have had 3 in a balcony cabin and it still worked well. Our room was well maintained and always clean and neat. It was well laid out worked for us but we also don't cruise to spend too much time in our cabin. My partner is 6'5 so we always get the king bed which works great and is comfortable. Only suggestion is that more outlets for power would be great

Ship tip

Always take power strip with you as not enough power outlets. Definitely go to the Comedy Club it's a lot of fun. Get to your chosen activities early for seating some of them get really busy.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

Just arrive to park and board ship

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
A lot do not like Cozumel but we do. Love the relaxed atmosphere and the shopping. Yes they can be pushy but that's their livelihood but you politely say no thanks and walk on. We went to Passion Island and loved it. Went by Catamarran and it was bumpy as seas were a little rough but it was still pleasant to be in the sea breeze. Food was good and the activities fun we enjoyed our day and would recommend it.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

4 out of 5
Progresso is certainly not pretty in areas but people are friendly and again the shopping was fun. We went on the VIP excursion and had a great time It's only for Carnival ships so numbers are limited and it was at a house on the beach. Food was great and they had open bar and served you constantly on the beach or by the pool or in the hammocks. Had an area for massages which wasn't included in price but there was no one pushing you to take a massage if you didn't want one. Everything else was included. Salsa dance class was fun and the staff were great. Would recommend this one as

Disembarkation

Getting down to Deck 3 was the longest bit but that was due to mainly passengers who were not called going down despite being told not to so they held others up. Everything else was very smooth and quick for us.

We've been on the valor twice, first experience was excellent, the second experience was 2 years ago, not as great as the first but it was still nice.
