Review summary

I was very disappointed with the Dining Room Maitre d' on upholding the dress codes. I understand the dress code has become more lax in order to start attracting more guests however, when it is posted in the daily itinerary to NOT WEAR: basketball shorts, cut off sleeves, etc and My wife and I get dress up to enjoy our night to have Mr. and Mrs. Basketball site at a table near us is very disrupting. Also they walked right by the Maitre d's and nothing was said... every night! Very sad in my personal opinion and heading in a wrong direction for future cruises.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Same Menu as a cruise I took last year. How often does food get rotated?

Same two "headliner" shows as a cruise I went on last year. How often does cruise shows get rotated?

Cabin / Stateroom

It was good, however being located right above the casino and the casino host/crew playing loud music and yelling throughout the night was very annoying when we wanted to have an earlier night.

If you have dress codes enforce them. If you are not going too enforce them do not have them!

I wore my suite on the Magic the first forma night.  I felt over dressed.  I did not see slobs in there but everyone was not dressed up.  A few of wore a suite, some ladies were dressed nice.  The majority wore shirt tie, or just polo shirts and genes.  I skipped the eloquent night the second time.  In the future I will just totally skip it.  Why bother anymore?

Agree with tone esp when people have to fly

tone1969    8 years ago

If your night was ruined because of someone else's personal choices then you have the issues. Carnival wants to pack these ships and flying these days have become more difficult and expensive due to luggage limitations. Hard working people willing to pay should never be turned away. Hope Mr. & Mrs. Basketball shorts had the time of their lives.

Things change...when you think about it, the real reason for cruising is to be happy with the people you love and care about, and enjoy this beautiful earth. Who cares about what someone is wearing as long as it's not offensive in a derogatory way. Mind your business, eat your food, enjoy your beautiful family, and cruise again. Just my opinion...no harm intended

We spend hours deciding on our dinner attire. We get photos every night and enjoy dressing up every night. What other people do is none of my business and doesn't affect my good time. I heard happiness depends on where you focus your attention. 😀

I definitely don't let it ruin my night it's just amazing how much cruising has changed.

They are the ones that look out of place, but I'm not going to let other people's clothes ruin my dinner. That's just ridiculous.

I agree with brownsoccer14, dress up if you want. The only person you have to make happy is yourself. If it bitters you enough asked to be moved.

I agree to a standard but. It doesn't ruin my night. That's up to you

I agree. When we cruised in May on elegant night people had on denim shorts, sweatpants, etc and nothing was said. On casual night a gentleman had a tank top on and they told him he had to change. Holland America too enforces the dress code on elegant night.

Try another cruise line, Princess, Celebrity, Oceana etc.

I totally agree with your comments. Cruising is beginning to lose some of it's traditions. Very sad when you have policies but don't enforce them. We will continue to dress for formal nights and make the most of our evenings.
