Review summary
The ship was beautiful and Nassau was beautiful, but thats about all good I have to say. Freeport was run down and not pretty at all. Can't believe it's a vacation destination. This being my first cruise was unaware there is practically no family activities, at least on this ship, and I took my 2 young boys. Although my ages 5 and 9 boys did love Camp Carnival, which was a blessing aboard. But, two days were practically wasted due to lack of info Carnival should have provided prior to embarkation, especially to first time cruisers. Was totally lost on board and had to play catch up trying to find everything and what was really going on. It was not all bad but could have been different w better planning on Carnival's part.

Ship tip
Ship has many bars. Not exactly family oriented. But kids had a fantastic time at Camp Ocean and looked forward to going, which was a good thing since no family activities. Beautiful ship, although stayed lost. Best for adults only.

Yes, this was just my experience people. I thought I had done my homework, just obviously not what I needed. And, I only found a map on the second evening after searching for Guest services. Yes, obviously first time mistakes were made. It was a waste of money to us because we could have spent a week in a beachfront resort verses the 3 hours total spent at the beach on cruise. I would try it again believing I would know more now, but again, for the money spent would rather be oceanside on our own time frames. Just our thoughts.

I remember learning a lot on our first cruise, but I have to say that I read through Carnival's website from top to bottom and everything I needed to know was there, and our family/friends who cruised before also gave us valuable tips. We just returned from an 8 day cruise on the Valor and the kids were always busy and in good spirits. I say to try it again on a longer cruise and you'll be happier. Also, we always book either an oceanview or balcony for the reasons you mentioned- being able to see daylight and the horizon go a long way toward making you comfortable!

Cruising has a learning curve just like anything else in life. Now you know what to ask your TA about before your next vacation, cruise or land package. "The kids loved the Camp Carnival," the food was good, service was good, yet a waste of money ?
I'm sorry that you were not prepared for your cruise. Your TA did not tell you what you signed up or and you did not do your homework, look up reviews of the ports and ships before you book. If you cruise again maybe Disney would be more to your liking?
