Review summary

While we were a bit concerned about cruising on Carnival  with all the negative news, plus we'd heard it was a real party ship, while there's nothing wrong with that we weren't looking for things to be wild.

A  friend told us to try it once - Omg it was the best of our 13 cruises to date! The value we paid was less than what we've paid on Royal Caribbean, NCL. We didn't have a room with a balcony on the other cruise liners and we paid much more.   This was the first time we had a room with a balcony, big and spaceous - the staff was outstanding very friendly always willing to help.  The Valor took special attention too keeping everything clean and wiped down at all times.

Food in all areas that we dined were delicious, we never had to want for anything.  Loved the "Cheers" progam.  Loved knowing there was a "Self-laundry w/iron".  Even thought they did offer a service for laundry.

The Port of Calls were wonderfu and beautiful, the people of the islands were all friendly - our favorites Ports were Barbados & St. Kitts.  But each one offered their own special style.  We loved taking the Segway rides - something we'll do here in Chicago now that we know what we're doing.

We'd totally recommend this cruise to everyone.   We went the end of May, so we didn't have the "Spring Break" crowd.  There were all ages, and nationalities aboard.  Good times for all.  We decided to eat "anytime", mainly because we didn't want to have to be locked into a certain time to eat.  Especially if we had plans on the islands we weren't rushed.  Plus we still were able to eat at a table with other's, we didn't have to sit by ourselves unless we wanted to.  Made friends and had lots of laughs!

We plan to do this cruise again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the meals - you had more choices for desserts on the Lido deck than you did at dinner. But still very good desserts at dinner.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Every day they offered something new and different to do. You could be involved or just sit, laugh and watch everyone else.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We really enjoyed the Adult Comedian's - the dancers were alright we wouldn't say they were that good. It would have been nice to have a Big name entertainer at least once during the week. But we still had a good time.

Children's Programs

Did not apply to us - but the kids all seemed very happy!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff were all welcoming, friendly, willing to help in any way possible.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Loved how clean and the "Serenity" location with couple hammacks.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We brought food back after breakfast to enjoy on the deck - it was a very peaceful pass - we'd sit and watch the seas go by sipping on cocktails. Night time the stars were amazing.

Ship tip

We hit the Lido deck because they offered the best homemade omelets. Every morning we could be found there - Lunch was the same so many endless possibilities. Dinner time we ate in the Lincoln & Washington rooms. Great wait in all areas.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
Wish we had of spent time in port but we'd been there before several times so we were excited to get on the Valor. You can never go wrong in San Juan. They offer great things to do and great bars.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

What's not to love. The island is beautiful, people friendly. Shopping good.

Bridgetown, Barbados

By far our favorite. Rented Segways, the guides gave us plenty of time before taking us on the trails. Loved the beaches! This island has to be the prettiest of all.

Castries, St. Lucia

5 out of 5
We've been to St. Lucia in the past - shopping is good the island wasn't as green and lush. Could have been the time of year. The beaches were great.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Toured the island it's beautiful, good shopping. Enjoyed the segway rides here also. The beach was so relaxing. Wish they had of offered a meal on the beaches. But there were restaurants you could eat at.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten
