Review summary

This cruise was the WORST vacation i have ever been on. My husband and I disliked all the food. We talked to many, many other guest who were on the ship and the overall impression was the same..the food was terrible, under cooked and poor tasting. When we complained to customer service they said we prepare everything to Carnival standards...and did NOTHING to resolve the issue or make us feel like they cared about our issue. The activities left alot to be desired...back pain relief seminars, acupuncture, how to eat and lose weight...REALLY???? Are those activities you want to attend on a vacation??? The few activites we did attend, either were run by a crew member that didn't have any energy and acted like they didn't want to be there or the crew would pick and chose who THEY wanted to participate and we were left out. The room cleaning service was the only positive thing we have to say about the trip, they were very good and attentive to our needs. I wanted to abandon ship by day 3.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

TERRIBLE!!!!! Undercooked eggs, dried out corn, meat was tough...the waiter just told us to "wait a bit longer and try the food again, it will taste better"..REALLY????

Entertainment

1 out of 5
The activities were either boring or seminars, or things that yuo muct pay to attend. When we did go to Karoke, it only lasted 30 minutes, how can you participate more then 3 or so people with a room full of people wanting to join in 30 minutes...the shows were terrible as well...We were SO BORED!!!

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
When you complain or ask a question to the line staff they either ignore you or state they don't speak englsh...when we made a formal complaint, they stated " we wrote it down, so hope you enjoy the rest of the cruise". It was a complete blow off.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was clean, but smoking was allowed in many areas and was very strong smelling...this was a negative for us.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This was the best part of the ship, the cleaning crew were very attentive.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

3 out of 5
Again just shopping and beach, not much else to do.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

3 out of 5
This is a private island and basically a beach spot.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

3 out of 5
This port was so dirty and run down...thank goodness we took an excursion NOT booked with Carnival to swim with the sea turtles...this was really nice.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We loved this port. We didn't book and excursion at the recommendation of a friend who has been there before. We took a private tour from one of the locals at the port for 10 dollars a person!!!! The tour was in an air conditioned bus for about and hour and a half with a few stops along the way for pictures..well worth the money, beautiful city, will be going back here for sure!

Pros: The Ports of Call

Cons: The food, the activities, the service

Recommends Carnival Valor? No.
