This yet to be fully developed ( a good thing!) area was terrific for seeing how locals live etc. The north side is the best. It's only a tiny 36 mile island. The road by the beach isn't allowed to be paved so it's just one lane of sand. It was really neat to see all of the little "mom and pop" stores, restaurants, and bars. We went snorkeling on a 73 foot catamaran and had a terrific time.

We were intimidated by some of the ship saying it wasn't safe to explore on our own or walk beyong the port limits into the city. The port had some neat shopping. Next time, we are going to do the cave tubing which we regretted not trying.

Don't Miss: the water in the port is brown

George Town, Grand Cayman

We easily grabbed a cab for $4 to go to 7 mile beach. The water and sand were breath taking. Naturally there are a ton of jewelry shops etc. to explore. From what we saw, Grand Cayman is safe and well developed.

Beautiful new port. I recommend Mr. Sancho's beach since it's free to get in and the offer an all inlclusive food, beach toys, drinks (booze), etc. for $50 / person.

Don't Miss: Cabs are expensive here despite all else being so cheap. Pile in as many as you can

Pros: Great food, cleanliness, and entertainment.

Cons: occasional lines.
