Ship: Carnival Valor

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The ship was a nice size, not too big not too small. The food was always top notch and you really don't need to use the dining room because you can get the same food at the buffet and be more relaxed. I needed a wheel chair to get on & off the ship and Carnival people were more than helpful. Royal Carribean has bigger and more elaborate ships then Carnival but the food & the service was by far better.

Ports of call

Key West, Florida

Really no beaches to speak of but if you want to drink & go shopping this is your place to do it. Look a few blocks in and there are stores selling everything for $5 so don't start buying right off the port...go in a little and prices drop. You can bargain with a few shops also.
Don't Miss: All the bars are entertaining

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Don't Miss: The beach

George Town, Grand Cayman

Did the beach excursion and it was nice but the steep embankment can be difficult if you have any leg problems.
Don't Miss: The water is gorgeous

We did the private island beach day. It was awful. There is no sand and you walk on pure shells as far out as they let you walk. It was the worst beach I have ever been on and they charges us 50 each to go. Very bad. Other people went inland and said the poverty was so bad they were very nervous about being there.

Pros: The food from Carnival beats out Royal.

Cons: The beds are not the most comfortable
