Review summary

After our problem we went to the front desk to get additional info for Carnivals solution. They told us what would be done and literally walked away from us. We asked that they call corporate for us, we were on the phone on hold or being passed around for more than 30 minutes, a number of us passengers spoke to corporate, but none of us got any results. DO NOT CRUISE CARNIVAL. They do not care about you.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
my wife and I had a good embarkation, my daughter and friend (first time cruiser), not so good. An inexperienced clerk, I suppose, was unable to get them processed in a timely fashion. Their check in took at least three times longer than mine.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining room experience was the best part of this cruise. Anthony took good care of us. The food, although not exceptional, was certainly the best on the cruise. Buffets were less than average as the hours seemed to be shorter. The restaurants featured, such as Guy Farrie's burgers are nothing more then burger stations. I was expecting something similar to Johnny Rockets on other ships. This is not. The omlettes were the best breakfast food available. Overall, just average.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Their performances in the big theater was better than average, but overall, the other entertainment was either performed by heavily intoxicated people, or you had to be heavily intoxicated to enjoy it. If it is not obvious by now, I am not a drinker. The featured magician was terrible.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
As previously stated, stage show performers did a good job.

Children's Programs

no children

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
Main dining room good, rest of personnel with a few exceptions, below average. Front desk is worthless.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
I did not have a problem with the ship other than the odor of raw sewage in certain areas of the ship, particularly the main theater.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
The bed was comfortable and the airconditioning was fine. The balcony is on the small size and it had a lot of what looked like paint chips strewn on it. I usually spend some time on my balcony, but this area was not inviting at all. Big disappointment. Plenty of storage space.

Ship tip

If something goes wrong, don't expect ANY cooperation from front desk or corporate.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

4 out of 5
Visited bourbon street and enjoyed my time there.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Spent time at the beach and had a good day.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico Did not visit port

Was cancelled due to Carnivals poor management. Will never cruise Carnival again. This port was the reason I booked this cruise.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
It is hard to really appreciate anything after Carnival shows how little they appreciate you.

I enjoyed my vacation on the triumph. Staff was super friendly. Shows were amazing and fun. I actually gained 6 pounds! Food was great. Our board time was at 12:30, we got to the ship around 11 and was processed at that time with no problems. We boarded at 11:30 when ship started boarding. There was nothing to complain about as this was a great cruise!!

Triumph is the one that flooded with sewage and people were stranded. Our friend were on that trip. We never felt like it was truly clean when we were on it either

We did NOT like the carnival triumph food either. Only vacation I’ve ever lost weight on because it was just terrible. But, we have booked on the Breeze this year and have heard it has much better food. Don’t let one cruise ruin them all for you!

Let's all hope Mr. Weasel's gripe is not how they handled that tragedy. I'd like to believe that people wouldn't be so insensitive to call Carnival Corporate over that.

I've been on the Triumph. So times people need to remember this is a working ship. Yes there will be some issues but if you look for problems you miss the great stuff.

Sorry for your disappointment. Our experience was quite different. We even rebooked the Triumph for this spring. I hope we are not disappointed.
