We were not allowed to stop at Progeso because someone jumped or was pushed off our cruise in the middle of the gulf of Mexico. This was a tragety and made the entire cruise sad. People were very upset with the death of a fellow cruiser. I feel Carnival should provide better entertainment and encourage responsible consumpsion of alcohol on their ships. Encouraging gusets to get so drunk they fall down is not the best way to make more money at the bar! I love to party, but Carnival has a broken culture and poorly trained staff. I regret choosing this cruise.
Embarkation

slow and unorganized. The Carnival staff did not have proper training and some of there handheld scanners were not working correctly. long lines and multiple people doing the same job because there scanners were not connecting to the WIFI. I only know this because the staff was complaining to anyone that would listen and making excuses for poor organization. We stood in line with people swearing and falling down because they were drunk or on drugs. we were subjected to F this and F that from a group of young women who were discussing there latest sex experiences with no regard for the people in line standing next to them. I like people and love to cruise but this just made people feel violated. The Carnival staff knew this was going on and sent a very senior lady over to ask these loud gross women if they needed any help. They just laughed in her face. They didn't need help they needed to be taken out of line. Carnival just stood by and watched the situation and did nothing to protect the other guests around these drunks.

Food was ok but the same as it has been for the past ten years. it comes to the table a little cold and tastes like cafeteria food. Service providers on the ship where kind and good people but only able to serve the food they were given.
Onboard Activities

Very poor cruise director and staff. This is such an easy thing to fix, Carnival seams to not care that their ship's entertainment is just bad. Hairy man contest, some drunk guys grabbing their crotch. and ice carving, really? The Bingo turns into a 1-hour sales pitch on buying jewelry. There was so much cigarette smoke in the casino it was just gross. This cruise had multiple people so drunk they were falling down or causing disruptions for other cruisers. I am not a new cruiser, this was the worst i have ever been on.
Entertainment

stage shows were nice but did not run after late dinning so we missed most of them.
Children's Programs
we did not bring our kids. I would not recomend bringing any children on this Carnival Cruise.
Service and Staff

Our room steward was kind and hard working. I felt like the other staff on this ship did not give a crap about anyone or anything. very few smiles, the thank you's were very mechanical. I got a very bad feeling from most staff on this ship, like they just wanted to get off the ship!
Ship Quality

I read about the Triumph returning to port without power, several years ago and assumed that they had cleaned the ship. I did not expect to have "water" dripping from the speakers on the 9th floor of the ship, outside our cabin. we pointed this out to the ships guest services and they said they would look into it. Water continued to drip for the entire cruise (five days), our cabin steward said, "sorry - this an old ship" they put a fan on the floor to dry up the water, it never dried. I am concerned that this water may have been from toilets or showers above. Either way this is not a safe environment for guests to stay in.
Cabin / Stateroom

Direct TV services did not work in our room. I asked for it to be repaired and was told it doesnt work in this part of the ship. Not a deal breaker if you dont watch much TV, but we spent an extra day circling in the middle of the gulf in crappy weather.
Ship tip
I like to party and we have had many fun times on Carnival cruises, but i cannot recomend this ship and crew to anyone. No matter how good of a deal you can get on the price, it is not worth it.

People do not just fall off a ship. you have to jump up to sit on a railing.....you cant just OOPS fall over without help of deliberate action to go over.
How can you blame the cruise line for an adult making a poor choice or being the victim of a crime? Would you blame Ford if someone is killed drinking and driving? Its sad that person lost their life however to fall off the ship you either have to be pushed or be doing something irresponsible.
Although it is sad I still believe people are responsible for their own actions. Placing blame is not a resolve. Carnival is the funship and their staff do a fantastic job. Know your own limitations.
