Review summary

I will NEVER cruise on the Triumph again!!  Will probley NEVER go to New Orleans .  The 1st. thing that happened : my luggage was dumped into the Mississippi river when they were loading the luggage.  2) They sent me a card saying my dining time and place had been changed to anytime dining.  The service there was HORRIBLE , they took 2 hours serving us. "I'm not kidding."

We missed the entertainment.  3) The food was BAD!!  My filet mignon was SOOO tough, I could not cut it with a STEAK KNIFE !!  Just ate the veggies. They were good.  4) Our excursion was cancelled due to dirty water because of mining.  5)  Among many things that were ruined in my suitecase,  I had to find my own replacement, such as my curling iron, which I needed very bad.  A very nice passanger loaned me one of hers for the whole trip.  I treated her to a plate of chocolate covered strawberries.  We decided to try our original dining, but when we found out what our table # was there was NO WAY we were going there...  table # 666.                                                                           The good :  they were able to dry clean my formals and dresses and my suitecase!  One of the formals faded on some of my other clothes.  RUINED.

The electronic were ruined.  (of course)  My evening hand bags (3)  drowned.

(came apart).  They gave  me a little over $200.00 for my lost and damage items.  And  a little over $200.00 credit on that cruise.   I REALLY FIGURED THEY WOULD ALSO OFFER A PERCENTAGE OFF MY NEXT CRUISE OR A FREE CRUISE!!!!!!   Everyone that saw my luggeage fall in the river thought it would be a free cruise for sure.!!!!!!!

@ Gabrielhood are you a dumb ass or just a rude repub?

gabrielhood    8 years ago

There's NO way on Gods green Earth that this story is even remotely possible knowing the currents of the Mississippi River! Like someone said earlier, nothing would have come to the surface of that river! You must be a democrat! Get a life and job!

Jim, Change of heart huh? In your attitude ? Did you sleep on it, or watched the Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde movie ? Very appropriate if you did or didn't. lol, :-) No disrespect intended by the way. Cheers.

Leslieriver, no need to drag your luggage on yourself. You'll be just fine. If this actually happened I promise you it was an isolated incident. Enjoy your cruise!

Carnival will go above and beyond, this being our 6 th cruise with Carnival. I really can feel for her situation. But in bussiness you can only do so much. It's hard to deal with when you don't really know where to start. Have you tried contacting Carnival help line. Usually from past experience they can give you the information you need to properly adress this matter. I'm nicknamed o/t ho & pot stirrer. With that, look foward to seeing you back in the future. Could have been just a bad day for all involved.

OMG this Aug will be our first time going from new Orleans defiantly dragging our own luggage on so i don't have that problem so sorry maybe you can contact carnival again about what happen and just tell then you feel you should receive skittle more than you did and maybe they will offer you another cruise

Jim60, What am I missing with what your saying ?

bata    8 years ago

Jas2026, that may be so, but if your not knowledgable in the ins & outs of who's who, so to speak, as I previously stated above about whether she was sensible or not about having insurance, which she hasn't confirmed, at the end of the day, she needs to be made whole, accidents happen, but fair it fair & people are still accountable for their actions & liability issues.

jims60    8 years ago

I know a good therapaist.

bata    8 years ago

From what I hear & what you say, that's correct, she may not know that, I kinda got the gut feeling, that she's out of her depth in the knowledge & experience required to resolve the issue, if this is so, put yourself in her position for a moment in time, the sheer frustration, & hopelessness she may be feeling, she needs support & help to steer her in the right direction.

jas2016    8 years ago

That would be the New Orleans Port Authority problem. However, even they aren't responsible for your luggage. Like an airport, they specifically state that claim, all the more reason to travel with insurance.

jims60    8 years ago

True, but the people that load the luggage work for the port of new orleans not carnival.

bata    8 years ago

Jims60, Your so right, I have a family full of them ! :-) but if florajoyce's story about her bag issue is fact, I am not concerned about the F&B complaints, she had choice options, I kinda understand that she feels a little upset, and everything she, Saw Heard & Touched Is amplified after such an ordeal, so maybe a little compassion needs to be given, until proven otherwise, What do you think ?

jims60    8 years ago

PS: Glad you won't be on Carnival Ships, I would hste to have you as a nqighbor. See ya. Makes more room for me and my family friends. By that I mean my Carnival guest and staff friends.

Most lawyers are like political people, some just lie better than others. This was told to me by a lawyer friend of mine of twenty plus years. Go figure. NOLA is fine, any port is fine if your attitude is right and address things in a proper manner. Start calm cool and collected and go from there. Kill them with kindness they will not know what hit them untill its to late.

bata    8 years ago

Hey C, (Banaford) Thanks for asking, I have sent you a private chat message, looking forward to catching up with you, Cheers, B

banaford    8 years ago

Did you have a delightful cruise Bata?

bata    8 years ago

Absolutely mikedebb, she makes no mention of insurance, & if she hasn't, it shouldn't be a case of "ha ha" that's your bad luck if you didn't, she needs to be made whole as they say, in legal terms irrespective, if she was sensible or not, insurance wise. Hopefully CrusinTim is researching all her points of contact options to make a positive contribution, if her story has substance. :-)

debbmike    8 years ago

Good reason to have travel insurance.

bata    8 years ago

In finding the correct people to address her case & claim, I think not! :-)

bata    8 years ago

How many phone calls do you think florajoyce will have to make, the cost of those calls & her valuable time, you don't think she will get the doors closed on her & the run around till she gives up out of pure frustration, ? if her story & case has any validity Timothy ? Perhaps you can help her, Cont,

bata    8 years ago

Nothing wrong with Banafords suggestion, but it won't happen over night, & a long protracted time consuming effort, which may not produce a fair & reasonable result compensation wise in terms of $ value, Jim would not charge up front, and for the cost of a strongly worded letter, you cut to the chase, and they know your serious CrusinTim.

CrusinTim    8 years ago

Banaford nailed it! Contact the port to see if there is something they will do to make it right! As for calling jwalker at cruiselaw, sure, if you want to pay out more to secure his services as opposed to what you will get back on lost clothes and luggage.

jas2016    8 years ago

Yeah I'm not calling you a liar... but your story is lacking the factual evidence needed to make this seem truthful. First things first. I'm a life long NOLA resident. I live on the river and I know for a FACT that whatever goes in that river is never returning to the surface. The current is just too strong and it is too deep (even at port) to just recover luggage like that. HOWEVER, I hope things work out for you and see about getting a lawyer because you have a big case, again if it's the truth.

banaford    8 years ago

Wow..that's bad. The people who put your luggage onto the ship do not work for carnival. Have you by chance talked to port authority to see if you can get info to claim your lose through them? I hope if you cruise again, it is wonderful and dry.

chelseyharrison    8 years ago

Wow I'm so sorry that happened to you. We cruised on that ship last summer and had a great time!

gazzagou    8 years ago

Wow that is shocking...
