My husband and I really enjoyed our 10-day Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Sunshine. The staff was exceptional, very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and plentiful. Accommodations were clean and good. We especially enjoyed the views from our balcony. The excursions made each of the islands stand out in our minds as great places to visit. We will certainly be cruising again.

We ate in the main dining room, buffets, and quick service restaurants. Menu selections were excellent and exotic. Got to try some dishes I had never had before. We especially enjoyed the peach pillate, chicken parmesean, Spring rolls, chicken noodle soup, crab cakes. Guy's Hamburger Joint was the greatest!! Best burgers we have ever had!!
Onboard Activities

We enjoyed playing cards with our friends in the library. I enjoyed shopping at the sales and got some great merchandise. We walked on the upper track several times. There was a large variety of activities available every day.

We enjoyed Jonathon Timpanelli's show. Solo guitar sounds with Ed was the greatest! The juggler was entertaining.

Great service from everyone. Very polite and attentive. Always smiling and ready to help!! My room steward Ruli was the best! He got us ice every day. Ruli was very friendly and always called us by name when he saw us. Great wait staff! We expecially liked Elvis, Carlo, and Merwin. Merwin would always call me by name. Carlo was very friendly and we enjoyed talking with him. Great, attentive service from Elvis. Everyone of the service staff is to be congratulated on making this cruise the best! The photographers really did a great job of capturing everyone on the ship and as we got on and off. Jake the cruise director did a great job, making sure everyone had a good time.

Nice accommodations. We had plenty of storage space. Loved the balcony. It was large enough for both my husband and I to sit and feel comfortable. Softer toilet paper would have been welcomed!
Ship tip
Get a balcony room so you can enjoy views at the ports and also take in the glorious sunsets.
We took the Coral World excursion. We visited the undersea observatory and saw lots of types of fish in the clear water. We saw sharks, rays, macaws, iguanas, lorikeets, turtles. The talks the staff gave about the sharks and macaws were informative and interesting. We also enjoyed seeing the white sandy beach with its clear blue water.
We took the Explore French and Dutch by Land and Sea excursion. Great. On the bus ride, we saw how the French and Dutch live differently but amicably on the island. We also had a boat ride with great scenery and great tour guides. I would recommend this excursion to other travelers.
We took the Pineapple and Champagne Cruise. GREAT! We enjoyed the boat ride, scenery, music, crew, pineapple. We don't drink alcoholic beverages so I can't rate that, but this was a great fun excursion! Beautiful scenery and great attentive crew members!
We took the Mega Truck Country Ride and Culture with Lunch. One of the best excursions we've ever taken! Our tour guide Eduardo and the driver Luis were the best! We had a tour of Puerto Plata, then a ride through the countryside and up the mountain. Great views and we could see the real Dominican Republic and its people, not the tourist side. We were treated to a delicious meal near the end of the tour. This tour should rate at the top for anyone deciding which excursion to take!
