Very disappointing, not sure if we want to continue to cruise with Carnvial.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Charleston port was very unorganized and chaotic. Needs to be easier to board and go through security.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The food was mediocre at best. The dining room where we normally expect to have a nice dinner, was not what we expected. We ordered steak several times and it was always either raw or overcooked. The fish we ordered was overcooked and dry. The buffet foods were cold and old. This is my 6th Carnival Cruise and by far the worst.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The pool was closed on the sea day for cleaning. The fun squad was not out and about having fun and interacting with the passengers like they normally are. The mini golf clubs were falling apart on the handles.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The shows were not as good as normal, one day the productions with lights and such were not working so they just sat on the stage and sang.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
The service was okay. Our main water Ali was nice but had a dry sense of humor so sometimes his 'jokes' came off insulting. Jasper his assistant waiter was awesome, very nice and always smiling. We didn't have much interaction with the room steward.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Common areas were clean. The ship is old and we had several issues with certain things.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
The bed was as hard as a rock. The pillows were lumpy and hard as well. Our AC/Heat was broken so our room was so cold at first and then extremely hot. It took over a day to have maintenance come but that didn't get any better. By far the worst room we've had in all our times cruising.
Ship tip
Don't expect too much, the ship is old and outdated and the service was not the best.
We were very disappointed in this port. We had such high expectations and this port was dirty, smelly and the people weren't very nice. Not to mention the port was extremely expensive.
Out of 5 ships the sunshine was one of our favorites nothing to complain about food and service great. The layout was a little funky but that was it. Obviously you havnt cruised on the ecstasy that by far was the worst ship for us. Nassau isnt the best port but blue lagoon and British colonial Hilton resortforaday are both great next time do a little research and there are some great places there.
We cruised carnival one time, won't do it again. While we made the best of it and had a good time, it's our least favorite of 3 cruise lines we have tried.
I've cruised out if Charleston once and is was easy on and no wait at all. If the shuttle and straight through check in and we'll be cruising out of Charleston come December.
