Review summary

We were worried that 8 days might be too long but we were wrong. It was the perfect length for both adventure and relaxation.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very organized and non-stressful embarkation. Port Canaveral was great and Carnival has got it down pat.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We loved the Italian Restaurant for lunch, along with the buffets and ate in the Sunset Dining Room every evening. The food seemed better than some of the other cruises we have been on.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
My daughter thought the water slides were great and my son loved the ping pong and pool tables. We also loved karioke night.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Loved the comedians and shows but seating is very limited.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We always love our dining room team and the Sunshine did not disappoint.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
Loved relaxing on the free beach in Grand Turk. Rented two chairs and an umbrella close to the water for $20, although we could’ve used the ones farther back on the beach for free. It was a wonderful and relaxing day for my family of four.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
I absolutely loved Puerto Rico! We took a taxi to the old Spanish Forts but if I had done a little more map research we could’ve walked from the boat. Truly some of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. We were even lucky enough to see a whale off shore!

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed this island. It was definitely not a restful day since we decided to hike to the he top of Wingfield Rainforest. My daughter and I were both hoping to see some exotic animals on our hike but we’d did not. However, we saw lots of gorgeous plants, trees, and vines. We felt as if we were on the set of a movie. We loved seeing the view of two oceans and the “monkey man” on our way to the rainforest. Be prepared to tip big for pics with the adorable little monkey (worth it once at least). We also wished we had brought more cash for our tour guide and the little gift shop.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
Would love to go back to this island on an extended vacation. There is so much to see! Two countries in one and both are trying desperately to recover from hurricane Irma. Although the resorts and such are still in a desperate state, the beaches and clear water are amazing. We loved watching the planes come and go at Maho Beach and our local guide couldn’t have done a better job

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We carried off our luggage with no hassle.
