Review summary

I really love to cruise. This was the longest cruise my husband and I have been on we will be cruising again this year and maybe cruise a little longer. Loved every moment of my time on the ship. I love the ocean and I just love exploring new places and meeting new people. And I love Carnival!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
I accessed the online check in service that is available now and because of that, it shortened our check in and we were able to embark sooner. Our balcony suites were ready and in excellent order. Our Porter was so friendly and became a member of our family in no time at all.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The service and availability was not disappointing and we are already planning our next cruise!

Sunset Dining Room

5 out of 5

Although I cannot remember the name of our waiter, I would like to say that he was fantastic. We liked to have lemons for our water and there were always lemons on our table. He was funny, polite and just wonderful.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We went to the Liquid Lounge many times, as well as the Limelight Lounge. The only negative is that while I was dancing, I put my back out and had to spend my last night on the ship in bed. I guess I had too much fun, but it was wonderful. The crew on this ship has certainly outdone the other Carnival ships I have been on. Very, very happy with the Sunshine!

Sunshine Casino

5 out of 5

My husband and I enjoyed the casino, although we didn't play big, lol, the only thing that was troubling was the fact that the smoking area was located right in front of one of the entrances, so it forced us to have to go all the way around and enter through another entrance.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment on the ship was fantastic! I loved your cruise director Lee and he was always filled with energy and enthusiasm. Keep him!

Children's Programs

I did not have any children with me.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All levels of service were very satisfying! I was not disappointed at all!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The layout, design and common areas were great. My only negative is that the public washrooms should have been cleaner. The times that I did use public washrooms, I felt that they were not clean and sanitary.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
My husband and I were on this cruise to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary. We cruised on the Sensation in 2010 for our honeymoon and we also had a balcony at that time. I can honestly say that my husband and I are now addicted to the balcony suite and we will be selecting a balcony for all future trips!

Ship tip

Travel light. I packed 6 pairs of shoes. I did not need all those shoes. Also, bring lots of sunscreen and bring one warm outfit, just in case.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
We have embarked at Port Canaveral many times and the only thing we were not pleased with was our debarkation. It was completely disorganized and hundreds of people were left outside with little assistance while waiting for their shuttles. My husband, brother and sister-in-law and I waited for an hour and a half before we were able to get onto our shuttle. It was very unpleasant.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
We have been to Nassau many times. We enjoy the people and the shopping and we try as much as we can to contribute to local economy as much as we can. The customs officials are always welcoming and we get our passport stamped every time we visit. It is a very lovely place and if it weren't for the cruise ships coming in, the people would have little source of economy, so I am very thankful for that.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Amber Cove was a very lovely place. We did not spend much time there because we went on a private beach excursion. The one thing that made me really sad was seeing the amount of trash that lined the beaches, as well as the small towns we traveled through. It would be nice if the cruise ships could offer incentives to make the locals clean up the trash because it was very unsightly.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Loved, loved, loved this place. My husband and I went on an ATV tour of the island and it was wonderful. We saw so many animals that were free and looked healthy. There were a couple of places where there was trash, but on the bright side, it was a lovely tour and our guides were wonderful people.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
So this was a complete failure. We kept our bags so we could disembark earlier, but there was so much confusion with people trying to get off before their scheduled time, we ended up getting off the ship 2 hours later than we had planned. Following that, we were left outside in a crowd of hundreds of people all waiting for their shuttles and when we asked for help we kept getting sent to different areas of parking lot and it was a huge run around. There were no signs and only a few staff directing hundreds of people. It was a difficult time.
