Review summary

I was disappointed in our Carnival Sunshine cruise. I am a Gold Card Holder and have been on several cruises with Carnival. This was by far the worst. I have never been to Guest Services so many times on a cruise in my life. I understand that things happen but when I went to Guest Services the reps were so rude and made you feel like you weren't important and did not help at all without attitude. Also, we were promised a "casino rate with casino credit" when I booked in January for a July cruise. I literally had to "fight" for the casino credit and NEVER got it even though I had the email stating that we were entitled to it. Back and forth between casino and guest services, each claiming that they "had nothing to do with it" and we should go speak to the other. I even called my travel agent and spoke to "Carnival" while I was on board, to no avail. The ONLY enjoyable crew we had were in the dining room. Raj and Non...you rock!! Thank you for making our dinners together the best times on the ship!

Cabin was very tight for 3 people but our Steward was awesome!

Ship tip

If you are traveling with someone who has trouble walking, bring your OWN wheelchair. We didn't and disembarkation was the WORST waiting for someone to take my Mom off the ship!!! We would still be there if it weren't for my Mom taking her time with her walker and being a trooper!!

Perhaps you should take the time to read what Carnival's 110% guarantee is sweetybear...you need to notify guest services WITHIN 24 HOURS OF YOUR DEPARTURE...Carnival will fly you home from the next port at their expense and refund your payment. NOT after you've completed your cruise, lol.

Oops Carnival not RC....I even emailed Carnival about their 110% guarantee bc I wasn't satisfied...no reply except we will look into it

I agree that the Sunshine was the worst of the RC ships I have been on. Too small.of a ship with way too many people. Alot of kids in the Serenity area and nobody trying to do anything about trying to get them out. Mind you it is an Adult place only. Not enough pool area or hot tubs for everyone on ship when you have cruise days. Hard to find seating areas at lunch and breakfast. Either you have to get up really early or late (then food is almost gone) to get a seat. Theater is packed when shows are in session. Especially Comedy shows. Dining was exceptional, waitstaff was on top of things, photos on formal night were awesome. Islands were nice, and about only time we could enjoy pool areas by getting back on ship early.

So, I want to throw my hat in the ring here...I was so nervous about what to expect after reading so many reviews here, but I will say, this platform is awesome in helping others be prepared for their vacations. I enjoyed the cruise and found that it was clean and most of the employees worked very hard to care for their assigned areas and passengers. However, we did encounter a few employees that were rude and I mean drop my mouth open rude. I was quite taken aback by this. I did take the opportunity to sepak privately to one employee and thanked them for all they do and for getting up early and not getting much sleep - yet I felt the manner in which they expressed themselves was unbecoming to first time Carnival cruisers. I explained very politely that I was not interested I speaking to a manager or being compensated in anyway, I just wanted to share my observation. They thanked me and apologized and I wished then a wonderful day. Overall, We thoroughly enjoyed Ji Ji's Asian Kitchen and the Steakhouse. The comedians were great. Serenity was great with no problem getting a seat here or on any other deck. I loved being on the deck in the morning before 9am where they played calming music with views of nature on the large screen. Would I book Carnival again? Yes, but I would like to explore some of their other ships as well.
