Review summary

Cruised on Carnival last year, left on same day as this cruise, it was awesome. The Sunshine is not a large enough ship to accommodate the 3,500 people who were on board. We were not able to even ONCE sit in the lounge chairs on the deck, people put & leave towels, shoes, etc on them ALL DAY LONG so no one else can use the seats, the 40 minute rule is not enforced if the seat is vacant. Food was good, stateroom always clean. There were 9 of our family members on this cruise (4 rooms). Very expensive cruise for each of us and our expectations were not met !! Most of the family vowed to never cruise again. There wasn't enough room to celebrate New Year's Eve on the Lido Deck, way too crowded. Music there and in the lounge for over 18 were geared for only the young people, we our all in our 50s so we just went to bed. Cruise Director Jaime was awesome, participated in activities. We were all just very disappointed with the cruise.

Rey (female) was our steward. She was awesome, the room was ALWAYS clean. The cabin itself was great, bed comfortable, shower nice.

Ship tip

I advise to not take a cruise on this ship. You will be very disappointed if you want to sit in the sun and take advantage of the deck.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

Clean port and fast lines, but park yourself and paying $120 is ridiculous.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

Very pretty beach. But should tell people going on the beach excursion that the dirt road is very bumpy, not good for older people or ones with health problems.

Certain times of the year like the summer they are allowed to have a larger capacity than normal. The only reason I know is because I asked.

I thought the guest capacity on the sunshine was only 3002 so how did they have 3500 ppl on board?

If someone leaves their stuff for hours it's getting moved, end of story. They can find it at the list and found.

Our cruise on the Sunshine wasn't the best but we're going again anyway. We just look at it as memories in the making!

thanks the reason we get a balcony cabin. you can see the secenry and enjoy the peace and quiet. it's usually not a problem finding seats in the serenity area,

Unfortunate that this wasn't a good cruise for you, but don't let it ruin cruises forever! with the right one you will have a marvelous vacation

unfortunate. Why didn't you appointment someone in your group to get up early and save some lounge chairs. I always stay on board ship one day in port, and enjoy the pool and hot tub.
