SUNSHINE  NO !     NIGHTMARE YES!

After sailing on over 41 cruises I have the right to say Carnival Sunshine was the WORST! The service was awful, food was nothing special…same thing every day except for the dining room for dinner. The staff was very indifferent to the passengers and not all were very friendly and courteous…

Although this ship was refurbished from the old Carnival Destiny many parts were old and non-functioning   The expense was put into lounges, bars and show theatre……Plumbing and electrical were obviously old and neglected. Out cabin toilet on the 8th floor flooded three times ..as many other passengers also shared. We were told this was an old problem and problem stemmed from  the upper decks and caused blockage on the decks underneath…We were not given an apology or compensated in any way. However I heard from a platinum and diamond deck members  that they received chocolate covered strawberries, wine and vouchers for their fine restaurants and on board credit. This was a slap in the face in that they discriminate among passengers..The ship was clearly overcrowded and in 7 days we never used the pool. People were literally standing shoulder to shoulder in the pools. One pool had  kids and families and the other with adults. Some were oblivious to all of this since they were obviously first time cruisers…

There were 3600 passengers and 1500 crew members…does not add up…2  passengers  to every crew members and this of course included all crew…engineers, officers, plumbers, electricians, waiters, servers, cabin stewarts, etc, etc …This ship is a DEATH TRAP and I pray there is never an emergency. There are not enough open deck areas and access is very limited..  Air conditioning in elevators was non existing and they felt like Saunas. I spoke to a Carnival Glory passenger and they indicated having only 2900 passengers and it was a larger ship..they had the same itiniery as us…

Air conditioning was strong the first 2 days and after that they lowered it so much, I was sweating while sleeping two nights..

I was given a complimentary bottle of wine for playing in the casino.I told the beverage server in the dining room…he made me go up to show proof of the letter. He could have called casino to verify but he didn’t. I came back with letter and then was told if I’d like a glass? I said no I wanted a bottle. He then gave it to the waiter and did not serve me. I watched as he meandered from table to table selling beverages. I noticed someone ordered a carafe of wine…he went over very politely and smiled while he poured them a glass of wine . He was happy since he was getting a tip from them.I pointed out to my waiter (I Wayan)how unprofessional the beverage guy was and he proceeded to get me glass. I spoke to the Maitr’D on the way out and was told he would take care of it. I spoke to guest services the next day and was told they had no record of the complaint.

While in the casino a server silled wine on my outfit, I complained and they told me to put it in laundry for complimentary cleaning…I did not get me clothing back until 3 days later…I was fuming after they told me they could not get stain out…Now they want me to take to my cleaners and send them the bill. Are they kidding????

The ports were decent, I had been there before. Carnival Sunshine provided no water or ice towels when we came back after the hot day at the beach and ports…First time I’ve seen this…

Shows were nothing spectacular and on last night it was cancelled due to technical difficulties…The Comedy shows by George Lopez were the only highlight that we looked forward to. The Limelight Lounge is tiny and more thought should be given to moving the show into the Liquid Lounge instead…Standing Room only unless you stood on line for ½ hour before the show..

My daughter bought a small gel candle in Cozumel…she was told it was dangerous and it would be thrown out.. He said we could go back to store and get refund, mind you ship was leaving in 15 minutes and store was 25 minutes away..REALLY?

After complaining it was returned to us on the last day…The security crew member gave her wrong information-could not speak English.

Most crew on the Sunshine could barely speak English….Imagine an emergency?   They should close this ship down and reconsider their policies on how to treat passengers…

I won’t be taking a Carnival cruise until all these issues are resolved…Royal Caribbean and Celebrity for me.

It’s a shame that my vacation that I looked forward too was ruined by this 7 day experience- Sunshine NO! Nightmare Yes

If you booked this cruise….CANCEL and rebook elsewhere…tell them I said so!
