We had a great time on the Sunrise. We were happy to be cruising with Carnival again. We ate too much, got too much sun and had so much fun.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was super easy. We couldn’t use Verifly but it didn’t matter. The Carnival staff was courteous and helpful. They kept things moving nicely. We checked in around 10 and was on the boat by 11.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Carnival has the best food options. There was always just so much to choose from. Even with the ship at about 80 percent capacity, food was plentiful. We didn’t go to any specialty restaurants because we didn’t need to. There was plenty to be had otherwise.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The comedians were great. There was always something going on. You’d have to try hard not to find something to do.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We didn’t see any shows but caught the young man playing guitar in the Red Frog Pub a couple of times. He was really talented. The comedians were funny too.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was great, always attentive, always cleaning always courteous. Franklin on the serenity deck was awesome. Our room steward, Gede was great too
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We sailed on the ship when it was the Triumph in May of 2018. There are a lot of changes but it still seems familiar in a good way. The ship was very clean and modern on the interior. The crew was cleaning constantly.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our cabin was spacious. Out of all the lines we’ve been on, Carnival has the most closet space. It was very spacious, small balcony but sufficient for my husband and myself.
Ship tip
Explore the ship’s layout early. It can be confusing to find some of the venues.
Love love love Cozumel. We went to Mr. Sanchos because you can’t go wrong there with the all inclusive deal. Good food, drinks , service and beach access is all we needed.
We stayed at the Comfort Inn Brickell which was very nice, convenient with a shuttle to the port but we didn’t find too much to do in the area. Restaurants were boarded up, nothing much to do. We were just there for a short time so we will have to look for other places to stay next time. We did find a nice river walk.
Key West was so interesting. We specifically chose this cruise because of this port. We were worried it might get cancelled but we made it! We walked around and explored on our own, sampled the local fare, ate some key lime pie and soaked up the history.
Disembarkation was super easy. We had an early flight, they had one of the lounges set up for us to wait for the doors to open. As soon as we were cleared to disembark, we were off. We were off the ship by 8am and headed to the airport.
