Review summary

Living in NY doesnt give many boat options. Carnival really should give ny the newer ships each year. Unlike florida and warmer states that have many boat options . I wish carnival would see that and offer us better ships.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
It was very quick but I had faster to the fun

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The dining rooms were relatively small. The ceilings weren't very high. The decor wasn't bad. It was tasteful.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
I took advantage of the fitness classes. The instructor/ client ratio was very small.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
I did one of the shows its was okay.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
The kids club was excellent. My kids enjoyed themselves. They are very patient and have video games, board games to keep the kids occupied.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was attentive but in the dining hall you need to order your appetizers, entree and dessert at once.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
They ship had added rooms which made the overall areas smaller.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The balcony was small and there was visual rust on the outside balcony.

Ship tip

There are two pool areas. The pool in the back of the ship is quiet and has two outdoor whirl pools.

Ports of call

New York, New York

3 out of 5
I live in ny so I didn't do an excursion here.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

3 out of 5
Theres a local beach called snorkel beach. Only 5.00 a person to get in and in walking distance from the ship. Very nice.

Grand Turk Island

1 out of 5
Did the pool cabana. So tired of this port. I wish carnival went to the actual Turks and caicos. I would love to see the actual island.

Disembarkation

Better luck next cruise

I travel with 2 small children. Taking a plane to get a nicer ship shouldn't be the only options for new Yorkers.

I agree Carnival need better ships that leave from NY. Some people just like to fly. I watched videos on YouTube about the sunrise It is Visual RUST and wear and tear on her. they need to paint and fix these issues. I also sailed on NCL the customer service is Horrible and the staff is unfriendly and rude. and they nickle and dime you. I prefer carnival so a better ship is needed. I traveled on the Horizon it was an excellent ship but the buffet was horrible.

Do you recall if there is a direct elevator on the lido deck (9) up to the serenity area on (12)? Looks like it is directly above our room on 9.

There are more ships sailing from Manhattan aside from Carnival, Brooklyn has the Cunard-Queen Mary 2 & Princess (Carnival own) or sail from Bayonne, New Jersey, the Royal Caribbean & Celebrity.

Love Carnival

Carnival isn't the only game in town. We had a great Caribbean cruise with NCL from NYC.

You just had the Horizon in New York. Calm down a little.

I see the point that onejeannette is making. The cost is huge if you have to fly a family round trip, then the cost of the airport parking or transportation and then pay for the cruise. Coastline folks get better prices because they can fill the ships. Unfortunately....Life isn,t fair.

We don't have any ships in Colorado! How unfair is that. Oh yeah you can fly to a port, what a concept.đź‘Ť

I lived in Rochester, NY for 42 years. We always flew to Florida for cruises in the dead of winter and thus enjoyed a day before the cruise and some after. I love cruising out of Port Everglades Ft Lauderdale. Consider jumping ship to Royal Caribbean, I went on Carnival Freedom and I have been on Disney Fantasy. The Freedom was a pain to get around on the ship and compared to Royal not as good. The Fantasy was great but you will pay for it.

The last time I checked, there were several airports in New York with flights to Florida and multiple locations where you could cruise from.

Sorry you didn’t have a good trip. I guess my question is why don’t you just fly to FL and out of out a different port? It looks like you go on the same ships a lot and going out a different port should open up your selection a little bit.
