Review summary

Do not sail on Australian Cruises. We noticed that unlike American Cruises there did not seem to be a lot of cleaning and up keep of spaces. Lots of food on plates and glasses left on tables throughout the day. Did not notice anyone wiping down common areas, elevators, etc. As a result, many reports of COVID infections from this cruise on Facebook to include us for the first time in 3 years. Very disappointing.

Embarkation

One of the only good things about this cruise, we got on board very fast with no waiting.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Lots of food on plates and glasses left on tables throughout the day. Not a lot of food choice or restaurants. Many of the included restaurants, like Guy’s closed at 5:30 pm.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
A lot of trivia contest. Lots of children on board and none of the activities were restricted to adults until after 9:30 pm.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows were good but again, no balance of adult only shows until after 9:30 pm, lots of childeren involved and running around during the performances.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Service staff was horrible. How to go to the bar many times myself to get a drink. Several times I would see wait staff just standing at the bar and I would ask when they would be coming around. Room Steward though was outstanding - kept our room fully stocked every day - went above and beyond. We left him an additional tip.

Passengers need to realize when cruising from a country your not a native of that the experience will not be the same as when cruising from closer to home. The cruise line will always try to accommodate the majority clientele, but also must often follow the homeport's local, provincial, and federal laws in addition to international maritime laws.

Sorry you didn’t enjoy your cruise. We just went on an 11 day Australian cruise in February on the Carnival Luminosa. It was one of the best cruises we have experienced. Very clean, happy & friendly staff, great food and good entertainment. Australia has just recently started back cruising. And we were pleased that the mask requirement had ended the day we boarded the ship. We would most definitely do another Australian cruise.

I don't think Australia cruises has anything to do with it. This has been occuring on cruises to the caribbean and many other locations as well. Some crew do a good job on cleaning and others don't. I've even seen that on the same cruise line with different ships. The location is a mute point.

The ship is owned by the same company, so I don’t understand your summary.

Covid is still common and in most places, including on cruise ships. I’m looking forward to 20 days on the Splendor in Australia in February.
