We had a fantastic time! It was our first ever cruise that my husband gave to me as an anniversary gift and we can't wait to book another.

Review summary

The biggest disappointment was the internet or should I say the lack there of. I do understand that it is something completely of out of Carnival's control and we were given a refund.

Embarkation

Easy process given how many people.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
A lot of variety to be had. We went to the Gold Pearl 3 times for dinner and the everything was wonderful. We would have gone more if we had had the early dinning. With dinner taking one and a half to two hours the 7:45 dinner time would have prevented us from doing other things we wanted to do.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We loved the trivia (bah ha ha), the live shows, the movies, the shopping, the art auctions ( bought 8 paintings), It was a little cool and windy for swimming - might have gone swimming on the lido deck if the roof had been closed. Loved the St Jude auction for that last carnival. Someone out bid our $275.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Out favorites were the 50's and 70's musical shows, the hypnotist, comedian/magician, and Hasbro game show.

Service and Staff

EVERYONE was wonderful, always smiling and saying hello to us by name. Loved Nadia and Tommy in the trivia games. And I can still hear Lee with his daily "well a very good morning Carnival Splendor family".... He did an amazing job. You can tell how much he loves his job and how much he cares about the passengers. When we arrived back to the ship from one of our excursions, he was on the pier comforting a passenger who was just sobbing. At the time I though something bad must have happened to her or someone she knew and you could see the caring and compassion on Lee's face as he tried to comfort her, it was so very genuine.

Ship Quality

Decor is a little old but everything was spotless! Elevators were sometimes hard to get on. but with so many people it was understandable.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
My husband picked it because he thought motion sickness would be a problem for him so he picked a lower deck inside. The room was a little small BUT we had plenty of room all our things. I very very pleasantly surprised how comfortable the beds were. I have back issues and do not sleep well away from home but I slept very well every night. Our only complaint was the lack of outlets in the room. We both use C-CPAP machines, but only one of use could plug it in at a time and that was with an extension cord that Baby provided for us. Our phones and tablets had to take turns charging. Loved the towels animals every day and Baby and the housekeeping staff did a great job keeping things spotless. Next time we will go for an outside stateroom since they are bigger.

Ship tip

Bring a European outlet charger for your electronics; there is only 1 accessible outlet in the entire room

Disembarkation

As someone who has b een paid to organize others, I was amazed at how easy it was to get off the ship when it was out turn. I expected a HUGE collection of bags in each section, but it took less than 2 minutes to get our from from our section. Well done!!

Zeker434 ..... Just make sure no surge protector on power strip

From what I understand, outside staterooms also only have one electrical outlet. We're planning on bringing a power strip so that we can charge multiple devices at once.
