Review summary

Below standard, based on previous experiences. We picked it because this ship stopped at 3 ports we hadn't been to before. It was good to see different places.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
One of the members of our party was in a wheelchair. They directed the wheelchair and one other person to a different line. The other 3 people in our family had to go to another line. I did not like being split up. The embarkation agent didn't leave my passport on the scanner long enough to scan the entire picture so I had to have my picture taken by Carnival staff. They didn't scan my Mom's picture at all.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We dined in the main dining room less than half of the time because the food on the menu didn't appeal to us. We dined at the Steak House specialty restaurant one time. The food was good. The service was excellent but not worth the extra price. The buffet food was okay but they closed part of the buffet two hours before ending time, forcing everyone to only one area of the buffet, resulting in long lines/wait time.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
It was extremely hot in the gym where the stationary bikes were located so it was miserable to use them. The rest of the gym was cool enough.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Terrible stage shows. One comedian (guy from Kansas) was funny and Jeff the Fun Guy was good. The other comedian (Washington) was terrible. Had no material for the PG show. Just asked the audience questions and tried to use their responses as his material.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The wait staff was fabulous. Friendly and clearly tried to please. Cruise director was great. Very friendly.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Didn't like the "pink zebra-looking" decor EVERYWHERE on the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was ok. The steward asked how often we wanted him to make up our cabin. First time I've ever been asked that question and I've been on a lot of cruises.

Ship tip

Be prepared to provide your own entertainment.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

4 out of 5
Flew in the night before the cruise. Stayed at a hotel then got on the ship the next day.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

3 out of 5
TOO much traffic! Went on the Aqua Fun Boat excursion. It was great. But, it took SO LONG to get from the ship to the marina on the other side of the island due to the HEAVY traffic. Must be one vehicle per adult living on that island and every one of them must have been out driving at that time.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

4 out of 5
Did not do an excursion.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

3 out of 5
Been there before. Did not do an excursion.

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
Not much there. The beach where the ship docked had so much seaweed, I though the water was black from oil or something until I got up close enough to see it was seawee.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Went well.

If you've cruised before, you would remember the staff at the port is not employees of Carnival, I will only eat on the Lido deck for lunch on embarkation day and with VIP boarding, I'm usually one of the first through the line or I head over to the burger and fries line. I've been to Grand Turk and stay entertained all day. Did you try to enjoy yourself or wait for entertainment to find you?

The ports may be nice, but if how you arrive is not 5-star--- disappoitment.
