Review summary

I would certainly recommend this cruise to others. However, when you get to the Dominican Republic dont waste your time even leaving the ship. DR was dirty, very poor and very expensive. The rest of the trip was amazing!! The ship was nice, very clean. The wait staff in the restaurants were very slow this cruise though. The gentleman Imade that cleaned our room was amazing. So nice!

Stay on the ship. Dirty country, very poor and locals were very aggressive. very expensive to take a Taxi to a dirty beach. Barley anyone could speak English and could not understand us. Will not go back here.

Beautiful Island, our Taxi driver was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to! Beach was beautiful and clean.

I fully agree. La R is a pit. Upper east side by resorts is a whole lot different. I believe carnival is building dockage on north side

If they are talking about La Romana DR. It is dirty,expensive and poor. But Amber Cove DR is great. Probably because it's not part of the main land. Carnival should stop going to La Romana now that Amber Cove is open.

The reviews I have seen recommend doing an excursion at this port. We are going ziplining.

I was in Amber Cove in May and I DID NOT see the dirt or the poor or the expensiveness that you saw. I took a tour and saw a mixture of the culture that is there and it is no more dirty or poor than any other Caribbean island. I will be there again in sept- FYI there is a nice Aqua area that carnival has built in this port so why would anybody stay on the ship unless you've been multiple times!
