Carnival Splendor

7 Night Mexican Riviera (Los Angeles Roundtrip)

Sail date: March 06, 2011

Ship: Carnival Splendor

Cabin type: Oceanview

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

Carnival needs to perfect "people moving" to make it an enjoyable experience for all. Many complaints about the initial boarding with up to a 3 hr. wait "in line" to board. Also long lines in each port to board ship. My husband and I are elderly and would not take a cruise again on such a large ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We were not offered "Any time dining option" when we booked our cruise. Others did have this option - Could not change to this option on board.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Would have liked to have something other than ships dancers and singers every night.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Had to go up one floor, walk along corridor to next elevator, then go down one floor to get where you wanted to go. Could not pass through direct on 4th floor.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Nice size - very comfortable. Had ocean view room on 1st floor - quiet and smooth sailing.

Ports of call

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
Cabo is our favorite port - beautiful bay.
Don't Miss: Land and Sea Excursion was wonderful - Good value

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

5 out of 5
Have been to Puerto several times. Love shopping along the "river" in town.
Don't Miss: Best Value & Wonderful 5 hr. excursion "Rhythms of the Night" (Wonderful!)

Pros: Tours in Cabo and Puerto

Cons: 2 1/2 hr. wait to board ship & long lines for all.

Recommends Carnival Splendor? No.
