Carnival Spirit

7 Night Alaska (Seattle Roundtrip)

Sail date: May 17, 2011

Ship: Carnival Spirit

Cabin type: Suite

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The ship was nice but we found that the decor was a little dated (the ship is ~10 years old now). The staff were very friendly, helpful, and hardworking to ensure we had a great experience.

We took an excursion that included the Mendenhall glacier, hatchery, and salmon bake. They were all great but at the hatchery there were very few to no salmon there at the time (May) because it was not salmon spawning season yet.
Don't Miss: Mendenhall glacier

We did a hike up the mountain and around the lake that is right next to the ship's port and it was great! The terrain is quite steep in the beginning of the hike but in and around the lake is relatively flat and fun to hike around! and best of all, it was free!!

Beautiful city but we didn't feel like we had enough time to explore before the sun set. The ship arrives at 7:30pm and leaves at 11:30pm but the sun sets around 9:30pm. Nevertheless we walked around the boardwalk by the water towards downtown. Everything was beautiful!

Pros: Dining room staff & stateroom service, 24 hr pizza parlor, the views from our balcony

Cons: Food could be warmer when served, entertainment, limited time at ports
