Review summary

I wish the staff was friendlier and nicer. I wish the lines were not so long for everything. I had expected more and we were all disappointed and ready to get off after Ensenada.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Fernando Rico was the best thing about the trip. He works for Carnival at the embarkation location in Long Beach. He is kind, patient and really cares to help people.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Food was okay. Buffet, very limited selection. Lines were very long at every eating spot. Deli, they had no idea what they were doing and moved at a snails pace. Bartenders paid no attention to you nor did waiters walking on deck, think it was because I purchased a drink package which you could tell they frowned upon.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Would have liked to go in the jacuzzi, but it was filled with young kids at most times. One was not working for the majority of the trip. Did a yoga class which was expensive and only 30 minutes, gym was nice. Slides long lines, everything very crowded.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
Was very surprised at the lack of customer service. Bartenders, servers, baristas, front desk attendants all not nice, never smiled and seemed to hate their jobs. I would have expected to have fun with them and get to know them. It would have made for a much better trip experience. Exception was Thursday brunch, good waiter. Steward nice to me but rude to my kids.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was clean, everywhere I went. Layout a bit confusing since 1/2 boat only accessed by one elevator.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Beds were comfortable, liked that we had 3 separate. Big, dark stains on carpet and pull out bed. Heard about robes on last day but never had them in our room. Love the animal towels each day. Both sides of our balcony had smokers so couldn't use the balcony as much as we had hoped to.

Ship tip

Do not go on this trip if you want a relaxing vacation with good customer service.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California Did not visit port

Wanted to get on ship and then home.

Catalina Island, California

Very long lines to get on and off boat taxis to island. Very long line to get back on boat and no one instructing you on where to go and what to do. Waited for a long time to get on elevators up and then found we could have gone other way to the stairs.

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
Easy on and off. Booked great excursion. Boat docked in perfect location.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easier then I expected. Good direction on where to go and what to do.

Give cruising another try. Maybe staff have been over extended due to the shortages. People should not have been smoking on balconies it is a fire hazard and not allowed. Thank you your review

Sorry this cruise didn’t meet your expectations. You could have reported the smokers.

Cruising is not the same as it was prior to Covid. Also try cruising when schools are in session for a better experience.
