Review summary

Great experience. The staff was amazing. The food definitely left something to be desired.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Everything went smooth and the lines were fast. Felt like we were on the ship in no time after arriving at the port.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
We only went to the main dining room once and were disappointed with the options. We ended up paying extra for steak and lobster which were small portions and didn't seem cooked with any particular skill. After reviewing the menu for the rest of the cruise we decided not to bother going back. We visited Bonsai Sushi which was very good. The buffets were always well stocked and moving quickly, but all of the food was pretty bland. By the end of the cruise, the food was the biggest reason we were ready to get off the ship.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
There were a lot of activities but mostly not things that my wife and I found appealing.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We went to 3 or 4 shows. There were 3 comedians on board. We missed the first one who we were told was the best one. Of the other two, one took vulgarity to excess and the other was not funny. We don't mind vulgarity in stand up comedy, but vulgarity just for the sake of it can get too much when it just goes on for 30 minutes. The other comedian felt like he recited his bit 5 times backstage then just came out and repeated it to us, even when the audience didn't seem to think it was funny.

Children's Programs

We didn't bring any children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every single staff member with whom we interacted was extremely friendly and helpful, sometimes going out of their way to get answers to questions we had. Dustin, the cruise director, was amazing and should've had a comedy show of his own. We're not likely to forget his regular announcements "This is Dustin, your cruise director, coming from your ceiling..."

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
As a first cruise I don't have much to compare, but the ship seemed well laid out and everything was kept clean and well-maintained throughout the trip.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our cabin was more than big enough for the two of us and our steward kept was in daily to refresh towels, vacuum, etc. My only complaint would be that the air conditioning did not work well at all.

Ship tip

Bring extension cords/power strips/etc. There is only one plug in the room and it wasn't near the bed.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

Nassau, Bahamas

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

3 out of 5
If you're only looking for a day at the beach, Princess Cays is probably good. There really isn't much to do there though.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

5 out of 5

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We intentionally just the last wave of disembarkation because we were not in a hurry, but the process went extremely smoothly and quickly. We waited on the lido deck by the pools until it was our turn. Once it was our turn it only seemed to take a few minutes to work through the process of disembarkation.
