Review summary

What can you say, it’s a 20 year old Carnival ship out of Baltimore. If cheap and convenient is what you’re looking for and you live close to Baltimore, it’s not bad. First time cruisers of modest means seemed to really enjoy themselves. If you’re young and don’t have much money, and partying at night is your thing, you’ll enjoy yourself. If you’ve cruised before and quality matters, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This simply can’t hold a candle to the premium experiences you’ll find on the high end cruise lines.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Very helpful and smooth, port workers made it less of a hassle than it could have been.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The sushi bar, Guy’s Burgers and David’s steak restaurants would all get high marks, a 4-5. The main dining area service and food were poor. My son compared it to his school cafeteria, and selections like the mahi mahi were clearly old with a fishy taste. Dessert selections in the main restaurant were above average but the remainder was well below every other cruise line I’ve ever gone on. Service was a jumbled up mess, with items arriving late or not at all.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The art auction, cooking demo for the sushi and fitness centers were five star. For daytime activities, not a lot else was going on. Evening things improved greatly.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
This is where the ship shined; the 80’s music show was amazing, comedy club great, and the live music throughout the ship was outstanding. Special kudos to Jonathan in the piano bar, he’s a rock star.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Our 15 year old son loved Club O2, made great friends and enjoyed the activities.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Room steward was top notch, waiters in the main dining were a hot mess. Inga in the Apothecary Bar and the rest of the staff there were amazing. Overall, service was just average,

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Clean and well maintained for an older ship. Not dazzling, but nice. One blip; the toilets stopped working for a few hours but they fixed it quickly.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Overall clean, sofa was somewhat worn and dated. Bed felt like I was sleeping on a futon. Again, well kept but still meh.

Ship tip

Don’t miss the bars and the nightlife! If you’ve never cruised before, you’ll likely be satisfied. If you’ve been on Celebrity, NCL and Princess this will be a few steps down from your experience. Clientele is friendly but certainly not of the same standing as other cruise lines. The bars, shows, and live entertainment will be very enjoyable. Avoid the main dining unless you have to do so, take advantage of David’s and the sushi, they were great!

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

1 out of 5
Only because family lives there did we get dragged up there. Dirty, old...the only reason to sail from here is if you live close, it’s convenient. We’d much have preferred Miami.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Been there many times; a little crowded but lovely, charming with friendly people. Avoid Paradise Island and stick to the Old Town for the British Charm of the city.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

3 out of 5
Very pretty beach, not much else going on there to see. The usual el stinko food from the ship....burgers like dried up hockey pucks and jerk chicken with the least flavor I’ve ever had.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

2 out of 5
Really, just a bunch of vendors in prefab buildings at a very industrial working port. We didn’t go to the main downtown, taxi ride was $60 round trip and the city is mostly destroyed from the hurricane.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Relatively smooth and orderly. Port personnel were helpful.

We just left the Pride 12/8 and we will miss that ship and the crew, everything was awesome from our perspective, the food that I chose to eat was top notch, I did pay $20 for surf and turf while in the mdr for dinner one night and it was worth it, I would love to sail on her again.

Snobbish much? Since when is NCL of quality? While I will say that when I was on NCL, the overall price I paid for comparable rooms in Carnival was much cheaper and came with the drink package and specialty dining, it doesn’t seem much better that Carnival. I will just take your opinion with a grain of salt and enjoy me self. You, on the other hand take a long walk on a short pier with you superiority complex! Cheers!

I agree. Great for new cruisers.

Cruisers of "modest means" and "clientele not of the same standing as other cruise lines". Wow. You have issues. Take your snobby self back to your "high end cruise lines" and let the rest of us enjoy the Pride.
