Review summary

We had a good time, and the ship has a lot to do, but it is very tacky in it's decor. We're used to the elegance of Royal Caribbean ships. This was not our first Carnival Sailing. We've done 6 previous, to include one on Pride's sister ship. I'm just not a fan of the decor Carnival uses on their ships. We've sailed Carnival, Princess, Royal, and Celebrity. We've made 28 cruises so far. Carnival is on the bottom of our list. We booked this one, because we decided at the last minute to book a cruise for our anniversary. We were inside 30 days when we booked, as opposed to our normal 18+ months in advance, so we settled on Pride due to the convenience of the port to where we live. Grandeur of the Seas, Royal Caribbean's Baltimore based ship was booked solid.

Service and Staff

Nothing to write home about. We found ourselves rushed in the MDR, and although they were friendly, they never really engaged us personally as we're accustomed to on Royal Caribbean ships.

Ship Quality

Pride is clean and well maintained, but as I mentioned in my title, she is tacky in her decor. I referred to the corridors leading to the staterooms as "booby corridors" as there are multiple murals of topless women, done in a 15th and 16th century style. I don't think it's appropriate for where children are walking, and although I'm sure it appeals to most of my male brethren, I doubt women are very impressed with this decor. Elevators are well laid out, and because of their spacing you seldom had to wait. Other than the first day, they were not crowded.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin 5165 is on the starboard side, but the balcony has an obstructed view due to the lifeboats being suspended at this level. You can see the ocean if standing, but not if you're sitting.

Ship tip

If you like comedy, be sure to check out the Comedy Club in the Butterfly lounge on the 1st deck, forward under the Taj Mahal theatre.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

Beaches are very crowded, and this is a tender port.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

We've been here before, and our opinion did not change. In our opinion, one of the most boring ports in the Caribbean.

Disembarkation

Although we were group 2, we waited almost an hour for them to clear the walk on's off the ship.
