Review summary

Clean ship with a great layout and friendly staff. Many activities to choose from. I think this is my favorite Carnival ship!

Embarkation

Very quick and friendly process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining food was excellent! First night with the waiters left us wondering if we wanted to come back. Must have just been a very busy night because the rest of the cruise they were very attentive and interactive. They even called us by name when seeing us in other areas of the ship. Guy’s burgers and fries are the best! Lido buffet could have had a better set up and more selection, but the line congestion was minimal because of the set up. You just had to walk around and hunt for what you wanted.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
During the day there is always activities going on to choose from such as deck music, bingo, crafting, or my favorite: learning how to make towel animals. The pools and hot tubs are always crowded, though if you go to the spa area you can usually get into that one and it doesn’t cost anything extra. The water slides were fun.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The comedians were excellent! You have to be careful when going to the late shows however. When they say “R” rated they mean it! The stage shows are only mediocre. The music was better than the acting, if you want to call it acting.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
I could not keep my 7 year old daughter out of the kids club! They keep the kids busy and they LOVE it! The staff are all very friendly and energetic. They keep a very safe system for pick up of the kids. After 10:00 PM you have the option of “Night Owls” at an extra charge where they do more quiet games and activities with the kids.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
We had a rough start with our waiters but it quickly turned around. I also had an issue with an item I had bought to be delivered on embarkation day that broke the first time it was used. I was impressed that managers in OTHER departments were concerned about my daughter and wanted to help her have a fun time. We rarely saw our room steward, though we always arrived after dinner with a clean room and a fun towel animal.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was the easiest layout of any ship I have been on. The renaissance decor kept everything fun and interesting to see. The sunset garden is a nice little hideaway. Staff were constantly seen cleaning various areas of the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was only two of us, but would have easily accommodated a third person. Aside from having to ask for more hangers there was more than enough closet and drawer space for all of our clothes and belongings. The extended balcony was roomy. Being in the very aft of the ship however, you have to be conscientious of the fact that those above you can look down onto your balcony because it is not completely covered.

Ship tip

If you do not have a private balcony the sunset garden on deck 3 forward is a very nice little get away.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

Can’t give a star rating as we only embarked and disembarked here. It was a very fast and efficient process.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Beautiful blue water with a beach right off the ship. The beach is very rocky. We did an island tram tour which was an excellent way to get some history. You can do the tour and still have a little time for the beach.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
The eco lagoon tour was very informative and kept the interest of my 7 year old daughter. The island lunch provided was a basic picnic lunch but everything seemed fresh. The sand is a beautiful powdery sand and the water was a glorious blue. I took my own shade tent to set up, but the sun still won and sent us back to ship an hour early.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

4 out of 5
This is a port you either love or hate. This was my second time in Freeport and I had a great experience both times. This time we did the dolphin encounter excursion. HIGHLY recommend this one! The people are all very friendly and you can tell the dolphins are well cared for. We had the youngest dolphin in our group and the trainer was so patient and loving with him as the dolphin wondered off, as all children can do. The driver of the boat on the way back to the main island allowed each of the children on board to stand at the wheel of the boat for a picture. When we arrived back to the port area we still had time to shop. The people at the straw market here are the least pushy of any port I have visited.

Disembarkation

Somewhat confusing but still off the ship at the expected time as posted in the Fun Times.
