Carnival Caribbean Cruise was nice. Dining room staff was wonderful and the food was good. The private island Half Moon Cay was beautiful. However, this was not up to the standards of the 2 prior RCL cruises we took. The ship was older and not as clean.

Review summary

Liked driving to Baltimore to get on the ship but would probably not sail with Carnival again; it just does not compare to Royal Caribbean

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We paid the extra "Faster to the Fun" and it was worth it.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was good in main dining room but the room service was awful quality for breakfast

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Not a lot to do compared to our RCL cruises. Kids did enjoy the water slides and we liked the Dive in Movies

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We loved out cruise director Dr. E! Best so far on any cruise. Island Getaway show was great for entire family

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Some of the staff just did not seem as eager to help as on RCL

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Our bathroom was dirty when we arrived and despite our requests, it was never cleaned well and smelled bad; bathrooms on ship were not clean and several were always out of service

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
average size for a balcony suite but we paid for "an extended balcony" and it was smaller than a normal balcony on RCL

Ship tip

Read the reviews; they are more reasonable on price than many of the larger & newer ships but that comes with a tradeoff

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Got off quickly carrying our own luggage

If you don't love the Pride. Do as a friend of mine would say, don't go away mad just go away.

For starters, you got on the ship already making comparisons. Maybe if you would’ve started with an awesome attitude instead of comparing, you would have enjoyed it more instead of comparing every single thing. Well, if you like Royal, than by all means, stick with them.

One cruise on one old ship in the fleet and writing off the entire cruise line. Brilliant.

aparisien... my first cruise last year was on the Pride and it was a wonderful experience! I hope you love it as much as my family and friends did!

Go back to RCL , that's a good place for you.

The Pride is an older ship. Maybe you should try a Dream or Vista Class before you make judgement.

Thanks for sharing! We just booked our 1st Carnival cruise (first time cruising as a family and a 1st for my hubby and child. Hopeful it will be a good experience overall but I appreciate the tip about yours switching back to Royal Caribbean).

To be fair to the pride it's an old ship. It can never compare to any of the new fleet no matter what company.
