Review summary

Overall this cruise had it positives but unfortunately the negatives outweigh them. We stayed sick from the ship rocking for days and have suffered from disembarkment syndrome for 4 days now. We spent a majority of our time on dramamine and sleepy. There was simply nothing do to on the boat and we were frustrated that we spent so much on a drink package that we couldn't fully utilize.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Baltimore was a wonderful port. We were able to get through the lines fairly quick and our stateroom was ready upon us boarding the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food and drink on the ship was delicious for the most part. The salad bar lacked some choices and the buffet sometimes didn't have anything we liked. But the Normandie was good every time we went and the steakhouse was phenomenal. I gave this a 3 because of the drink package choices. We purchased the cheers! package which cost $840 for the both of us for the week because we were told drink were priced very high. We ended up loosing probably more than $400 on it because we were sea sick for the first 2 whole days and couldn't utilize it and because the drinks really weren't that expensive in the first place. We would've been better off to pay out of pocket. Carnival offers NO refunds for portions of the package that are unused.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Literally nothing to do on this ship and what was available was so overcrowded you couldn't enjoy it. They had movie nights on lido deck but it was set up around the pool crowded around a bunch of people outside. The comedy show must have been the main attraction because when we attempted to go it was so crowded we ended up leaving. We got their early and people were already lining the walls because there was nowhere to sit. Through the day the only thing they really had going on was a bunch of seminars about acupuncture or how to shop effectively on the islands...things we had absolutely no interest in attending.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The 3 violinists they had in the atrium were amazing and Clay at the piano bar was pretty good too. Other than that there wasn't really any entertainment provided.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
If there one thing that deserves 5 stars on this ship it is the staff and service crew. They did a phenomenal job with keeping the ship clean and was always polite. Our stateroom steward was one of the most memorable staff members of our experience. Within the first day he knew us on a first name basis and we always had pleasant interactions with him when we saw him. He did an excellent job keeping our room clean and we really enjoyed out towel animals. I hate that he works such long hours for 7 days straight (maybe more).

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
You can tell the ship is older and slightly outdated but it is very well kept. All of the staff do an excellent job at keeping the ship clean. I gave it 2 stars because they allow smoking in the casino which travels throughout the entire deck and into the elevators. We attempted to go to the casino just to have something to do but I couldn't stand the smell and my allergies didn't appreciate it either. We ended up leaving within about 30 minutes of being there.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was decent size. Bigger than we expected honestly. Thank goodness for that because that's where we ended up spending most of our time. The decor is dated and very worn but still kept clean.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

5 out of 5
Very convenient port and parking set up

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Beautiful island with lots to do. They have many different shops and the beaches are very pretty. Getting on and off the ship there was a breeze as well.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

4 out of 5
Half moon Cay was absolutely breathtaking. By far our favorite beach. I gave it 4 stars because of the hassle of taking a water shuttle to and from the island and because there really isn't anything to do at this island beside hang out on the beach.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

I wouldn't even get off the boat......

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
This went better than we thought it would. We tagged out luggage and had it picked up the night before. We were off the ship and back into our vehicle before 11:30am. The ship docked at 10am.

Is debarkation syndrome when you still feel like you’re on water and moving even tho you’re on dry land? Cuz I got off yesterday and I feel that way now 😂

First you give a good review of debarkation saying you were in your car by 1130 then you say you suffered from debarkation syndrome for 4 days which is it?

Sounds like you had a bad attitude to start with. Nothing to do?! Not true. Seasickness? Don't take drugs that cause drowsiness. Your cruise is what you make it. Going on the Pride for the 4th time. We always have fun!
