Review summary

We had a great time all in all. The only complaint I have is the amount of smoking on board. You are allowed to smoke in the casino which is to be expected. We walked through the casino twice a day to get to the dining room so that was a little gross since we are non smoking but it was okay. We really didn't like that there were so many people smoking on Lido. Seems like there was smoking going on all around the pool. I don't know if you are allowed to or not but people were doing it. Also all along the top decks. Eventually I could smell smoke in my room in the middle of the night and that's when it really bothered us. My husband is really sensitive to cigarette smoke and needed to use his inhaler. I wish there was one designated area that isn't as popular as the Lido deck that was for smoking and I wish that the ship's smoking rules were enforced a little better to keep smoking under control.

Right away you are overwhelmed in a good way with all of the options. my family liked everything usually, but after 7 days we were ready for a home cooked meal.

Service and Staff

WOW! The staff on this ship went ABOVE AND BEYOND! We stayed in 5136 and Pat was just simply amazing. She was always outside when I needed her and always rushing over to say hello and ask if everything was okay. If we needed something she saw that we were taken care of right away! She made the trip for us! Our wait staff in the dining room...seriously, how do they do it??? Gabriel, Abraham, and Olivier....they knew our names and special recommendations by night one! So friendly. They made us laugh and saw that we had everything we needed. A couple of nights some of us at our table weren't feeling well and Gabe had some great tips! He also sent some treats to my daughter when she had to leave the table early for motion sickness! Everyone was so sweet. They all work so hard and I don't know how they do it. I miss all of them!

Cabin / Stateroom

What would we do without Pat?? She was so helpful! Always there when we needed her! Also, we had read after booking that this room may be noisy due to being close to the elevator. We never had that issue. Quiet and calm all the time. The balcony was a great view as it's the first one to pop out past the ones to its left. Plenty of room for 2 adults and 1 teen. We loved the location, being right next to the FWD elevators! We will try to pick the same room next time!

Ship tip

Definetly pack a clothes line with clips. This was our most used "extra" piece we packed. We had suits and stuff drying on it all the time. i liked that we took advice to decorate our door so that when we got off of the elevator we knew right where we were. Sometimes the halls and doors all look the same. It was a nice landmark for my teen (and forgetful husband) to remember where our room was quickly. Also post its! With no access to phone, sometimes it was helpful that we had post its to leave notes for each other when we left the room to go somewhere to to meet somewhere. Dont miss the shows! So much work goes into them and they are pretty entertaining!

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

Grand Turk Island

This was our first port. We swam at first on the beach next to the dock...that was great until we found the Margaritaville Pool. There was music and drinks and big enough so that it wasn't crowded. But then we walked a little bit to Jacks Shack! And the people there are so friendly, great drinks, and the ocean water was cleaner and calmer. Less crowded and we met some fellow cruisers and had a great time!

Disembarkation

We did not check our luggage leaving the cruise. We waited in the Taj Mahal and Stephanie did a GREAT job managing that crowsd alone. I wish she had help with such a big crowd. A few guests gave her a hard time. She does a great job at everything but i was really impressed with how she handled such a large impatient crowd ready to get off of the ship!

I'm glad you & your family had a nice time. Like your husband, I am VERY sensitive to cigarette smoke. We leave on the Pride next month & I'm hoping not to have that issue. I'm one who would complain if it's a non-smoking area.
