Review summary

First the good: Food and dining service was excellent! Omari, Sahin, and Kenn were the best wait staff we have ever had! They went out of their way to make our experience memorable and fun! Now the bad: First, ship is in pretty bad shape. they were constantly working on things, closing many outside decks. There was constant noise from sandblasting and the smell of paint thinner was awful the last few days. Ships is going into dry dock in January, but they should think about moving that up. Grand Turk excursion: horse back riding. I booked this through Carnival for my husband and daughter. Entire excursion was a disaster, it is nothing like the pictures. They basically took them to a closed military base, horses were not good for inexperienced riders. They often would take off or wonder off and they told you to control the horse and bring it back. One horse bumped my husband's horse and he got thrown off. They use cheap english saddles so he had nothing to hold onto. He is an experienced rider and was able to get up right away, but if the rider was not experienced, it could have been bad. The people from the excursion told us not to tell Carnival! Total waste of money. During their excursion in Grand Turk, I booked a massage. My massage started at 9:30, then at 9:45 the ship did an abandon ship drill. The entire time of my massage, sirens were going off, the ship horn was blasting and there were constant announcements. I know the ship must do these drills, but the spa should simply not book during that time. Juliet, my massage therapist was very apologetic, but the girl at the front desk of the spa was very rude and basically said sorry about your luck. They refused to give me money back, or agree to another free massage. I went to guest services and they gave me $27 in free drinks. Does not make up for the $200 awful non relaxing massage! Upon our return, I called Carnival to voice my concerns about the excursion and massage. There response? We can give you a $50 onboard credit on your next cruise. I am really unhappy with Carnival and won't be sailing with them again. They made it clear they don't value us as customer's and are only out for the money. I just booked our next cruise with Royal and can't wait to go back to them. They truly are superior to Carnival and will be our choice from now on.
