Review summary

Overall, we had a blast. The biggest issues we had were the limited smoking areas (& can't smoke on the balcony either) and the disembarkation process. Otherwise, the staff was great, food choices were great, and the ports were wonderful.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
It was great! The boat was on time. They saw my husband walked with a can and even though we didn't register for handicapped assistance, they routed us through the handicapped lines. We were through in minutes. It was a lifesaver!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food on the Lido deck was amazing. We never made it to the dining room; there was no need. We could eat whenever we wanted/were hungry. It was so convenient. The free coffee wasn't that great, but it was always available. The lemonade was good, but just too strong to drink all week. The hot chocolate was wonderful (especially since our days at sea were so cold). Why isn't soda free? Not sure why it couldn't be included in the price of the cruise; fountain soda is not that expensive to provide.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We played bingo. It was fun, but cost-wise, it was pretty pricey for the number of games. I got a gift certificate to the spa, but was told I had to get a signature service to use it. I chose a pedicure. The nail polish choices were very limited and the upgrade to a premium color was $25. The nail technician did a great job, but then she tried to pressure me into buying some really expensive skin care products. It was really awkward.

Entertainment

We didn't participate in any of the entertainment. There appeared to be a lot of great choices, but this was our honeymoon and we chose not to go.

Children's Programs

We didn't bring our children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service and staff were exceptional! Everyone was very friendly and attentive. They even knew us by name.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was VERY clean. If anyone made a mess, the staff was right on it. The only concern we had was the smoking areas. We are smokers and the smoking areas are a bit limited and not always convenient or provide enough seating.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The room was perfect for us! It was cozy and comfortable. The staff did a great job cleaning the room when it was convenient for us. Having a balcony was great! The views were amazing!!! It would have been perfect overall if we could've smoked on the balcony (it's open-air, so I'm not entirely sure why we couldn't smoke there).

Ship tip

If you want to hear the PA announcements, go someplace quiet. They are nearly impossible to hear. We were unable to hear an entire message regardless of where we were on the ship. This could be dangerous if there was an emergency. And we felt like we potentially missed out on some good information.

Ports of call

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
Gorgeous! Pictures can't do this port justice. But if you don't plan to be on the beach the whole time, there isn't a lot to do.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Great shopping. If you want to go to the beach or see the island, you need to plan an excursion. There are a lot of people/vendors at the port that haven't been vetted by Carnival that will take you, but be careful! Otherwise, there is an enormous amount of walking! The shopping was very limited and a bit overpriced.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

4 out of 5
Great shopping! There is great shopping right off the dock. You don't need to do a lot of walking and there are plenty of places to rest. If you want to see the beach, you'll need to plan an excursion, but there wan't even enough time to really do that.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
The ship was 3 hours late getting back to port. They didn't say why, but I'm guessing weather? I understand why they had to change our debarkation schedule, but it was difficult being out of your room earlier and having to be in a limited amount of common areas while they prepped the ship for the next cruise. It was too cold and windy to stay on the Lido deck to smoke (along with my husband's limited mobility, it was too hard to try to go back and forth to smoke with our carry-on's. The only other place smoking was allowed was in the Beauties Lounge and that was a very small area -- crowded. And it appeared that lounge was only opened last minute to accommodate smokers. Not sure what the original plan was. You couldn't smoke in the casino at that time.).

High winds going under the bridge was the reason for the delay.

I actually thought smoking section was good on the pride compared to the sunshine they were horrible for smoking sections I almost was going to quit cause it was so out of the way for us , I’m sorry I didn’t that was my chance looking back ! However something like that I would not allow any vacation to be ruined
