Review summary

We went on this cruise with some friends from Richmond. They saved the cruise for us. They are regular Pride cruisers as the port is only a short drive for them. Had they not been in the ship I would have probably taken my luggage and flown home from Bermuda. I will never cruise Carnival again. I did Celebrity in December 2016. Much better ship and much better experience all around.

Embarkation

That part was smooth. The confiscation of my luggage, not so much. Carnival's website says you can bring on a bottle of wine. Since we flew this could not be on my carry-on. FIASCO! Waited in line 1 hr at guest services and then was escorted to the back office to open my suitcase. They finally gave in realizing how stupid the situation was. Got our wine back after they said they would "destroy " it.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Sushi place was great. Guy's Burgers are slop. The buffet is an inch away from being a mess hall, especially at breakfast. The cantina has declined decidedly since our cruise on the Pride in February. The dining room was good. However, the first at sea day we waited 20 minutes to get in to breakfast and waited another 45 minutes to get our food. The service team has been cut dramatically as there were dozens of free tables that just sat empty. The servers continue to be awesome even with the extra burden of being understaffed.

Onboard Activities

Pool was fine, however, on our February cruise the men's bathroom was broken most of the 15 day cruise. This cruise the same men's room was broken 4 out of 7 days. My husband would have to go into the buffet to use the bathroom whereby they would hassle him for not wearing a shirt. Nonsense.

Entertainment

The Taj Mahal was closed twice during a 7 day cruise. It didn't really matter as the shows NEVER change and are lame at best. The Pride does NOT clear the Punchliner comedy club after each show. Consequently, people come for the first show and sit for all 4 shows. It is SRO if you want to see the show. Plus, the entire time in Bermuda, no comedy club. Finally, Beauties night club rarely opened at 10 as they didn't have enough DJ's for all the activities. The dance party night at Serenity was "chaperoned" by flanks of security guards. What did they think we were going to do????

Children's Programs

No children with us

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
I cannot say enough about the bartenders at Alchemy and our servers in the dining room: top rate. Guest services, not friendly at all. Most of the other bars service was not memorable.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Because The Pride is a smaller ship it is easy to navigate. Maintenance, ha! This ship needs serious cleaning. The pool has some crusty crud on the grout of pools. You can scrape it with your fingernail so it CAN be cleaned. There was a beer bottle sitting atop an electrical box for 5 days; no one saw it? The ship just seems old and tired.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
It was clean but slightly beat up. The balcony was disgusting. The chairs has so much paint flecks embedded we were dubious to even sit on them. We were worried the paint would come off on our clothes. Plus, the bathroom floor was never washed once during the 7 day. I know this because the floor became sticky from the overspray from my hairspray.

Ship tip

Don't do it. The beauty of The Pride is the ease of Baltimore. The terminial is not crowded and easy in and out. We have cancelled our 15 day cruise scheduled for November 2018. I cannot put myself through that long of a cruise with basically nothing to do at night. We don't gamble so all that is left is sitting at a bar, BORING.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland Did not visit port

We just flew in.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

Loved Bermuda and Horseshoe Bay beach. The most beautiful beach ever. Very, very expensive for food and drinks, however. More expensive than Hawaii.

We did self-assist because I couldn't wait to get off the ship. Very smooth.
