Review summary

well first off when we arrived at the terminal to board the ship we stood in line for about 1 hour. I was told that I was a v p passenger and was treated like everyone else. I had been on same cruise before same ship and same amount of time seven years ago.  my first one was on the Norwegian  cruise line. second carnival pride and this one again. my impression  of this time  room steward was never around, bathroom sink was clogged first day, and refrigerator was not working.  everywhere we went money money money was needed by all for anything. I got free room service last time and our room steward was so accommodating. our room steward left water in the room for us everyday and here we find out we were being charged everyday for it at the end. then to top it off find out we had to pay 90.64 dollars each at the end of the cruise for gratuity and tax and fees ??????????? what I thought we payed it all in the beginning .very disappointed this time around sorry but don't think it was a good experience for my boyfriend being his first cruise and how I boasted about carnival cruises were great the last time I went. it was his birthday and no special treatment what so ever!!!

Show up at least 90 minutes before the ship set sail. Never a crowd.

good point colinc. everything she complained about is up front on paper

Wish people would do a little research before they get on a ship......oh wait, if they did that they would have nothing to whine about!!!!

been on carnival pride over 30 trips. one of the best over ship there is. room stewards leave their phone number so you can call. lines are long but you can purchase faster to the fun which you can get on early. around 1:30 on there are not any lines. looks like you were looking for royalty at a cheaper price.

our room attendant brought us 3 free bottles of water. I was pleasantly surprised

we ordered a couple of twelve packs of water to be delivered to the stateroom before we get on. very reasonably priced and will be well worth the convenience.

What is a vp passenger? Also I like that you get a choice of paying for "extras" it keeps the cost down for those of us that don't need all the fluff.

Ours had tags too, just like the towels and robes if you wanted to keep them. 💰

jenny072    7 years ago

the water bottles had tags on them saying how much they cost at least when we cruised they did.

Did you request water that water be brought to your room everyday?

twangster    7 years ago

Same with hotels. I know those bottles sitting there aren't complimentary.

i think a big problem is people just assume too many things. there is information about room service charges along with charges for water. yes, they did leave you water everyday, but you also should have read first that there was a charge for it.

I have always had free water in my stateroom: it comes out of the bathroom faucet.

Sadly a lot of changed in the industry over the past few years. Not just Carnival, but prices haven't skyrocketed either so some things had to drop to keep prices in reach. The automatic gratuity is well documented, that shouldn't be a surprise.

Some things are also free on room service. They simply expanded the menu, with some items charged. Bottled water has never been free in all the years I have cruised. Gratuities, some room service, charge for water is pretty standard across the cruise industry. Just for future reference.

lab341    7 years ago

Why are people so confused about grutuities? Even when you prepay, you will have it listed at the end as well for what wasn't included. EXAMPLE: It covers your cabin steward, the waitstaff and those that help them. It does not cover tips for beverages, 15% is added to all orders. It does not cover optional things like spa, casino, kids program, room service. It does not cover anything off the ship, such as porter, guides, restaurant staff, etc.
