Overall, we had a very enjoyable time. We were very pleased with the destinations and with the excursions we selected. We have been on the Carnival Pride a number of time, so we were quite familiar with the ship's layout, and we were pleased to find that Carnival had done a good job in keeping the ship looking new and in good condition.
On the down side, we weren't "wowed" by the food or the entertainment. While both were pretty good, we didn't feel that the quality was good as what we experienced in past cruises.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was generally okay. Items like the onion soup, the salmon entrée and steaks were good, but the overall food selection in the main dining room didn't make dining an exciting experience.
Lunches on the lido deck were okay, but The dinner selections were like eating cafeteria food - not much taste to it. They definitely need to come up with a better pizza sauce.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There was really no shortage of things to do while on board. There were a numbers of entertainment venues, games and other activities to keep you buy. If you were bored, then it was your own fault.
Entertainment
Unfortunately, we were not very impressed with the performers on this cruise. The dancing was good, but the singing wasn't all that great. Also, the shows themselves have diminished in quality and in content from shows on previous cruises. We did enjoy the movies on the Lido deck, but hearing was sometimes a problem.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
As in all previous Carnival cruises, the staff and service was excellent. Everyone was cheerful, friendly and helpful. Our cabin steward, Nolito, was quite friendly, and he did an excellent job in maintaining our cabin.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Even though the ship is about 16 or 17 years old, it is still in excellent condition. All areas were kept clean, and most areas still looked new.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We loved the ocean suite. The extra space and the larger balcony were ideal. We loved having the larger bathroom and the extra cabinet/storage space.
Ship tip
Like on any cruise, alcoholic drinks are quite expensive, but if you plan to order more that one at any given time, you will find that, with many drinks, you can order a double for only an additional $3.
Belize is somewhat rundown in appearance once to leave the port area. We took the river cruise, and that was pretty good. We were fortunate to see a couple of crocodiles, some monkeys and a number of iguanas. But, if you are looking to see manatees, forget it. They barely break the surface of the water to get air, which makes them difficult to see in a low boat.
This was a new location for us, and we were pleased with the Pirates, and Monkeys of the Caribbean excursion, although there wasn't much involving pirates. Everyone enjoyed having parrots and monkeys sitting on their shoulders and heads - a great photo op. Kids especially will love the up close and personal experience. One note - the road running to and from the location is in terrible shape. The bus driver did his best to avoid potholes, but sometimes it's impossible.
