Review summary

This was our first cruise. I have to say the ship is clean and beautiful. Our stewardess was a sweetheart. The wait staff in Main dining Normandy was very nice but the BEST was Ferdinand Head Waiter. He really made our experience better. The food was good in there. There are several things we didn't like on the ship. One was buffet food. It was same thing all the time and it was not as good as everyone told us. Plus ice cream machine was broke more then it worked. I think they should have more options like a sundae bar. Also at night the food is minimal pizza... is the only 24 hour thing open. Then the have a late night small buffet again same boring food everynight. It was not what we expected. They pools are very small and I didn't understand why you would have the smoking section where kids are. They have the adult pool Serenity but no smoking there???? Doesn't make sense. I didn't think there was enough smoking areas on the ship. As far as drinks I do not think we should have had to pay 15 % gratutity each drink. They were expensive enough..... That should be included with the total tipping they charge you for everything else. Next on to places we visited. First each place they do not allow enough time. You feel real rushed. Grand Turks was pretty but it was mostly rocky. Next our absolutely favorite part of the cruise was Half Moon Cay for its beauty. The food buffet carnival provided sucked. We thought it would be like a neat bbq but it was same old stuff. But I truly would love to spend a few days on that Island. They should do overnight with a Luau that would be awesome and people would love it. My least favorite place was Freeport. I would not go again!!!! Getting back to dock the last night was pretty boring they didn't have a lot going on. When we went to get our bags they lost 2 of them. We had 3 luggage tags on them and they were secure but somehow went missing. We were lucky we were able to finally find them. Oh and I forgot when we first got there they confiscated my Husbands cord for his CPAP machine and his cell phone charger they returned the cord at the end but lost his charger. I want to go to Bermuda but all my friends do not want to go on the Pride again. It was good for a first cruise but I think it could have been a lot better. Carnival charges enough to make this better. I was disappointed because other friends go on cruises and they say how great the food is I can't brag about Carnival Pride.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food in Normady Dining was good but the rest not so much. Disappointed.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
For adults the casino is about it. The had a bean bag toss game you couldn't even get a turn because they only had 1. Mini golf it was to windy up top most of the time it was roped off

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Comedy shows were the best others not so much.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Ferdinand Head Waiter was Awesome!!!!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
It was clean but as I said 3 small pools hardly any smoking areas and not enough outside activities for adults.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Housekeeping could have kept the bathroom cleaner and the towels are awful hard. But our room was comfy and our main stewardess was a sweetheart. Love the different animals each night and turn down service. But the don't put a piece of candy on your bed.

Ship tip

Eat at main dining and eat a lot so your not hungry later.

To MarcDuckworth read my comments.... Poor Ferninade??? He was the best part and I gave him high reviews. People keep your negative comments off my comment. I was asked to do a truthful survey and I did. This was my experience not yours ok???? I will cruise again as we have learned a lot from our first time. As I said we had a lot of good things on the ship which outwayed the bad. If you have nothing nice to say or have no helpful hints refrain from commenting on my comment Thank you

Some people just aren't cut out for cruising. You aren't paying enough to be swept off of your feet anymore.

Dan MP good points not everyone is able to enjoy the beauty the serenity of the boat and the ocean, partaking in the daily activities and events. Personally I enjoy the fact that when I get on ship I am going to have time to relax and recoup from work. The only recommendation to new cruisers find out what is offered on each ship, there is so much, have the fun is finding and trying all they have to offer. Happy Sailing to all

Was on the Pride 4/3/16, 7 days. Had a great time, excellent service from the parking - embarking. Great experience. The food was the same as. The food on the Freedom,2014; Breeze,2015; Splendor, 2016. There were enough choices to find something eatable. U must be eating 5 star at home.

We love the Pride...last 3 cruises was on her. Last one was the b2b journeys from January 16th to February 7th..... OMG. Can't get enough cruising in. 5 last year and getting ready to go on our 3rd for this year. Never been on the Sunshine, heard lots of mixed reviews about that ship... but we aren't hard to please. A cruise is what YOU make of it.... that's with any vacation. This next Cruise is to celebrate my 37th birthday and his 36th birthday. Plus it's our 9yr anniversary from when we first started to date. We're both men and the staff has treated us great (even though that's not legal in all countries, the workers are top notch). We will continue to cruise with carnival and maybe try some other Cruise lines, but cruising isn't for everybody.... took my sister, her husband and my best friend last year....Don't think they'll ever go on one again. They're more the destination type folks. But then again, I've only been on cruises as a vacation.

Bermuda Cruise is a lot different because you stay there 3 days

On any Cruise the more you know about the ship the better it is, about the pride there is more than one ice cream machine. Did you use room service the menu and the food are excellent. Another item gratuities are a choice you can pay all of them or none of them, just an option look into it. As for the ports such as Freeport unless you have an excursion planned it is not much to see or do other than enjoy the weather, and the shops that is why a lot of people stay on ship. Remember port taxes Freeport is very low.

Poor Ferdinand....He had to hear this stuff for a whole week! A cruise is what you make it. The Pride is a great ship. If you have a hard time on it, don't go on another cruise.
